It's great that you're using offline sources to expand the article. It would be even better if you cited those sources so that others could see where you found the information. Warm regards, —Stepheng3 (talk) 19:09, 13 September 2014 (UTC)

I totally agree and have added several references to the article. I only mention the Offline Sources Policy because the local paper, Ventura County Star, has subscriber only access for some articles. I can't tell if the article behind the pay wall unless I check it with another computer. The local articles are very helpful though and I think at some point they make older articles available to anyone.
A special shout-out for all your work adding incorporation dates to many cities. Fettlemap (talk) 19:39, 13 September 2014 (UTC)

'Standards and tools' in wrong place?

I think the section headed "Standards and tools," above, should be on your User page and not here, which is supposed to be confined to missives to and from you. What do you think? Regards, GeorgeLouis (talk) 13:40, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

@GeorgeLouis: Yes, the welcome had suggestions so I thought I was starting a conversation. My list has grown and makes sense to be on my User Page. Thanks Fettlemap (talk) 16:00, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Meiners Oaks, California may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "{}"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Will be re-adding party affiliations to selectmen/council/mayors of municipalities in Connecticut.

I'm going to re-add them, and this time, provide them with sources, with some of them being from the official municipality websites themselves, or the election results from the Secretary of State's website.

Unless that is not relevant.

ExecutiveWashington (talk) 03:46, 16 September 2015 (UTC)

I don't know much about Connecticut. Although there are ways to find it out, it is not appropriate in California. Fettlemap (talk) 04:00, 16 September 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, I understand. I won't be doing that again unless there's a source. ExecutiveWashington (talk) 04:06, 16 September 2015 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Refugio oil spill

Heyo. I know you did a lot of work on the Refugio oil spill page. I nominated it for Good article status a while back and someone just reviewed it. There are some comments... SO I'm kind of an idiot... I just realized that not only had you already addressed this, but you actually commented on the page... SO please ignore me... *wipes egg off of face* --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 03:31, 30 November 2015 (UTC)

Artic Red Link

Thanks for the pointer. I have only become active again in Wikipedia this year, last being heavily active in 2008/09 and around then red links to potential articles were (still) okay. I see the essay you refer to was only commenced in 2008. Please note that I have for the time being put the dab entry back but without the red link. Cheers. Paris Air Show crash

Hello, I see you reverted my edit to the Paris Air Show crash. While you may subjectively feel that you've improved the flow of the sentence, the standard way of expressing most numbers is in words from one to nine and in figures thereafter. As this is an article in an encyclopaedia rather than poetry, I wonder whether you would consider reverting your revert? Eric Blatant (talk) 12:09, 9 June 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for your edits to Wikipedia and your interest in this article. According to the MOS, either way is correct. (In general, write whole cardinal numbers from one to nine as words, write other numbers that, when spoken, take two or fewer words as either figures or words) I was not trying to be poetic but Wikipedia as an encyclopedia definitely does have a style. The sentence properly begins with a number word: Three children... (Avoid beginning a sentence with figures). The word sixty is appropriate for the sentence since they both refer to a number of human beings. (comparable numbers should be both written in words or both in figures) Cheers and Happy Editing, Fettlemap (talk) 16:10, 9 June 2016 (UTC)

Oxnard neighborhoods info

Hello, I wrote a draft for a cityscape section of the Oxnard article. Could you take a look at the draft? The link is here. Thanks, Evancahill (talk) 13:47, 14 July 2016 (UTC)

Evancahill, I haven't had a chance to comment but it is really coming along. You may be able to improve it after looking at the article [1] I added to Henry T. Oxnard Historic District. The sentence "It contains many different architectural styles." could be improved as that could describe almost anywhere.

Wildfires project

Hello! You are getting this form message because I have noticed that you have been actively editing pages about wildfires in California. I am trying to recruit some people who might be interested in starting a new wildfire project that focuses on large and notable wildfires. Is this something you would have any interest in being part of? Obviously there is no firm commitment that needs to be made. At the moment, I'm just trying to get a dozen or so people to say they're interested. Please let me know if you have any interest. I have created a project proposal that I would love to hear your opinion of. Thanks!!! --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 19:39, 31 July 2016 (UTC)

WikiProject Wildfire

Hello! I have recently started a new WikiProject and am trying to recruit new members. The project, WikiProject Wildfire, focuses on articles that relate to wildfires. There is a lot of work that needs to be done. From updating templates, to classifying and improving articles. Any level of commitment is welcome! If you care to just add some input on the founding of the new project, awesome. If you would like to take an active role in editing articles, that is awesome as well! Knowledge of wildfires is NOT a prerequisite for joining the project. In fact, it would be great to have some members of the project who are NOT fire-buffs. That way we make sure that articles aren't just written by and for people in the fire community. If this is something you have any interest in, I would love to have you join the project! Please feel free to join the discussion or leave me a message on my talk page. (Note that you are receiving this message from me because I saw you made multiple edits on a wildfire related page, specifically Sherpa Fire. Not just spamming you at random.) Hope you have a great day! Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 22:13, 2 August 2016 (UTC)

@Zackmann08:, Thanks for the invitation. I don't have the time to participate due to other interests. The Sherpa fire was kind of a "one off" for me. All the best, glad to see some organization around this topic. Fettlemap (talk) 15:18, 3 August 2016 (UTC)

Sherpa Fire

Heyoooo. So I reverted your edit on Sherpa Fire and wanted to explain why. Being a Santa Barbara resident, I know that your edit was accurate and correct... Problem is you didn't give any sources so it is completely WP:OR which is a big no-no. Particularly since this a WP:GA, it is super important to keep it cited. If you can track down some sources, absolutely add it back! --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 07:14, 19 August 2016 (UTC)

William Joseph Seymour

Hello Fettlemap! You posted a greeting on my user page when I set it up, and you invited me to ask any questions. Well, here's my first question: I am in the process of updating the William Joseph Seymour page, and I could use an experienced editor to look over my shoulder. I'm about half finished, and hope to have it ready in a couple weeks. I've edited Wikipedia a little before, but it's been so long and so little that I can't even remember my user name and information. So, I started fresh. Would you mind checking in on the Seymour page every once in a while? Azusa (Los Angeles) is not too far from your interest in Ventura. Thanks! Misterniceguy (talk) 01:49, 4 April 2018 (UTC)
