Template - PGA Tour Events

Greetings ...

In response to your edit of the Template Page for PGA Tour Events

The Fall Series events (JT-Shriners Vegas, Fry's.Com, McGladrey, CMNH-Disney), as well the two events contested in Asia (CIMB Classic, WGC HSBC Champions), will not be a part of the 2013 PGA Tour schedule that runs from January to late September. These six events, as well as the Mayakoba Golf Classic which is moving to the Fall beginning 2013 (dates not yet known), will lead-off the so-called "Wrap" season of 2013-14 beginning after the 2013 Tour Championship.

If I may respectfully suggest, you may want to first revert the template back to its state before your recent edit, and then re-compose it, placing the seven above-mentioned events in their own sub-section with the notation that they will be played as part of the 2013-14 PGA Tour Schedule beginning October 2013. When October 2013 arrives, then the seven events can be properly placed with the others.

Editing The Open Championship logo

Hi there, just wondering where you got the logo that you've used to replace the old Open logo? It's not correct and looks like it has been created by a third party. I work for The R&A and the word "Championship" should not appear under the logo. Many thanks. Clairexwelsh (talk) 10:45, 19 November 2014 (UTC)

I got it from a friend in R&A marketing. I knew that the previous (2003-2014) logo system was very often shown without the word "Championship", showing just "The Open", but here on Wikipedia we always used the "Championship" version because it better displayed the full name. So I assumed that this logo system was the same way, with most logos not having "Championship" but one existing, and again we had always used the "Championship" version here on Wikipedia. So I assumed that there just hadn't been enough material published with the new system for the "Championship" version to have been released. So knowing our usual policy here of getting the full version, when she showed me the press materials, I specifically asked her for the "Championship" version because that was always what we had used here. She sent me the logo I posted, I thanked her and that was it, she did not mention there only being one version or anything like that so I assume she got it somewhere official, unless she just didn't want to let me down or something, but I suppose that wouldn't be doing her job correctly so I would doubt that. Because I no longer trust my friend's sources (she says she got it from someone else when she asked so I guess I don't blame her), so maybe you could clarify some things from the article? In the "tournament name" section, you modified the wording. Correct me if I am wrong, but the tournament's name is still "The Open Championship", regardless of branding or anything else like that. So the section should keep the old wording, except that I wanted to cut the part about the tournament's website out because it is very confusing to readers if the article states that the organizer doesn't use the official name (even if that's the truth), so I'd rather just get rid of any reference to what the R&A's branding does.AMLNet49-Talk-Cont 23:31, 19 November 2014 (UTC)

Ganassi NASCAR Car Histories

I disagree with your reorganization of the Chip Ganassi Racing NASCAR teams. The #1 and #8 cars were originally out of DEI, and their histories distinct from the #09/39, #40, and #01/41 CGR/SABCO teams. It's not as if the 41 was simply renumbered to the 1 car after 2008; the 41 was on the table to continue, ultimately shut down due Sorenson leaving for Richard Petty Motorsports and Target moving over to Montoya's 42 car since Wrigley Company couldn't handle the full season. Also, the #8 (which was merged with the #39 History Section) had not been an R&D car since the 1990s, and was intended to continue as a full-time entry with Almirola until sponsorship ran out.

The way it is written implies that it was a takeover by Ganassi and not a merger into EGR, that DEI's teams simply replaced the 40 and 41 teams in the Ganassi stable. It could also be interpreted that the 42 was a re-branding of one of the DEI cars that was phased out (Regan Smith's 01 or Paul Menard's 15), considering that EGR took on the DEI/ECR equipment and that unlike CGR's primary car the #1 car had full backing. But it was a merger of the two teams, with the 1 and 8 remaining from DEI, and the 42 the lone remnant of CGR. That's as it was reported if i'm not mistaken.

I do agree that the DEI history was too extensive and should have been cut down to summaries. But the way it is currently presented, with the histories of the cars all mixed together makes it unclear that they were all separate entities.

I understand what you are saying, but this is written as a retrospective history, rather than a history from a 2009 perspective. For example, in changing the name back to CGR, Chip Ganassi stated that Teresa Earnhardt had never been involved with the team, from the very beginning after the merger. The fact that nothing officially changed with the team's makeup and he changed the name proves his point. Teresa still has the same stake she always has had, but she doesn't talk to Chip, and in his words, she never has. Thus it really was a takeover, regardless of what it was intended to be; it was never a merger in practice according to Chip, which is why I phrased it like a takeover.

There were way too many sections for car histories. The 41 ended after 2008, and the 1 "began" (at EGR at least) in 2009, so it makes complete sense to put those back to back. I made it very clear that it was DEI's driver and sponsor coming over, and that Truex was not technically "replacing" Sorenson and that Bass Pro was not "replacing" Havoline. I mention that they switched to Chevy because DEI ran Chevy. It's a method of condensing it because the histories are directly back-to-back. The car histories prior to Ganassi really don't matter, I left a note that they are available at the DEI page, but this is a Chip Ganassi Racing page, so mentioning Dale Earnhardt Jr is confusing and unnecessary. The only parts of those cars that need to be in the history is the part after Ganassi owned them, because this is an article about Ganassi, not DEI. I think all of the necessary facts are in the article, I don't believe anything about the merger was left out, I was up front with the process that occurred in practice in the article. Fair enough, it looks okay. Part of it is that I still view the #1 as a DEI car, even though the team went out of its way this year to eliminate any connection by changing the number logos. Still, I think that the #1 car was a historically relevant car, being both the original DEI team and a winning car at the Cup level, and maybe needs more then just the redirect at the top. Also, since not everyone who reads the page has an immersed knowledge of NASCAR or auto racing in general, I think it would be helpful to add a paragraph of context at the start of the section before diverging into the SABCO/Ganassi history.

As it pertains to the 8/39 car section, since the #8 car was not an R&D car, I don't think it should be in the R&D section (maybe that section should be removed all together), and context should be added since the #8 was also very relevant.

I am going to add a little more to the note at the top of the #1 section. I understand the want to still connect the #1 to DEI but based on Ganassi's comments I think it would be inaccurate to do that for 2009-present, however as I said I will add a little bit to the note at the top explaining the change.

As for the R&D section, I am going to re-title it "Additional Cars" because you are correct in that the #8 wasn't technically a planned R&D car. I will also add a little blurb regarding the #8 like I did with the #1. However, I can't see it with its own section since it's relevance to Chip Ganassi Racing is minimal, as Ganassi only fielded the car in a handful of races.

I also like what you did with the Xfinity section, concerning last year's TSM involvement. The reason I added it is (beyond the fact that the NNS #42 is branded like a Ganassi car) there is rumor that CGR will bring both Larson and Kwasniewski in-house with the Xfinity program and I wanted to make sure it was up to date so that in case that announcement does come, it's easy to just say "The #42 became a full CGR car in 2015" or something. -AMLNet49-Talk-Cont 02:19, 23 November 2014 (UTC)

Fox MLB

AMLNet49, I checked the social media outlets and they are still calling it "MLB on Fox" they are callng themselves "Fox MLB" as a visual branding. The social media outlets continue to be call themselves as "Fox (sport)" as a visual brand. 18:05, 19 April 2015 (UTC)

I said this about a dispute concerning a logo on the CBS Golf page: the article is about the television program, not any social media or even press releases related to the program. I have watched the other Fox rebrandings very closely and they all have gone the same way as this one; the telecasts are called "Fox MLB" exclusively, and even the twitter is called "Fox Sports: MLB". The only MLB on Fox reference I see anywhere is the Twitter profile pic, but that had been out of date already (that logo has not been used on TV since 2012). So when you watch an event from Fox Sports, there is no difference between the way an NFL or NASCAR telecast is branded than a Baseball telecast, which means they should be titled the same way. It wouldn't be accurate to say that it is "visually branded" one way but called something else since the article is about the television program itself. If you want to add a "social media" section of the article about Fox's coverage of the sport other than TV then that's fine by me, but the article is about the TV program which is exclusively branded "Fox MLB". The Open logo

I'm not quite sure what you mean. "They are not correct and in violation of the trademark." The logos are definitely accurate so I'm not sure what you mean by "not correct". In fact the 2003-2014 logo is the same exact file that was on the header of the page until last year. As far as a being a violation of the trademark, they are not being used for commercial purposes, they are simply being used to display past identities of the Open Championship. Most articles on Wikipedia pertaining to companies with trademarked logos include older logos of the same company in a "history" section.

Hi, wondering why you have changed the logo back to one that you have created yourself, that was not provided to you by The R&A. This logo is in violation of the registered trademark. Please can you remove all instances of it from Wikipedia. The reason we did not continue commenting is that we didn't want to call you out on your claim that The R&A had provided this logo to you. I'm assuming you're referring to the 2014 logo, not the older ones that I uploaded to the history section. I'll tell you that I do not appreciate you writing in your reversion that I somehow created the logo. Why should I care whether they include the word "championship" so much that I go out of my way to add it, then have to condense it down to an image and re-upload it. My area of interest is mostly in TV coverage of sports, I couldn't care less what the Open wants to brand itself as.

I never even claimed that the R&A "provided" me with anything, it was just sent to me by a friend who works with them because she thought I'd be interested to know that they had a new identity. I checked wiki to see if it was uploaded, and it was not, so I uploaded the one she sent me, and I requested the version with the word "Championship" because we have a history of using that version on here. Whether she had anything to do with modifying it, I have no idea, but I assumed that such a version existed and wouldn't think that she would actually add the word on her own. Evidently, I was wrong about both that such a version existed, and that she wouldn't modify it herself. When you approached me about changing it, I was inclined to believe you, until you stopped answering me. So I decided that perhaps you were not who you claimed and changed it back to the original image.

Don't make assumptions about people that put their credibility in question, when the real story might be much simpler. And if you are going to make assumptions, don't put them in your edit summaries.

MBTA track map

Could you upload the original editable file (in .svg format) to Commons? That will allow it to be used on any Wikipedia (not just the English one), and to be edited for future expansion and so on. It's a very nice map, and I'd like for it to continue to be useful in the future. One small comment on it, by the way: North Quincy is ground level, not on an embankment. Are you using Illustrator? It should have the option to save or export as Scaled Vector Graphic (.svg). And I would argue that Alewife should be considered underground - most of the platform is not open to anything, whether open air or mezzanine. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 06:10, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
