Audrey Hepburn article and quotation on your user page

edit

Hello, ADunwoody07. I notice that somebody has already undone your edit to Audrey Hepburn. If it is any consolation, both I and the Oxford Dictionaries prefer -ize to -ise, where appropriate, but these days it is hard to persuade people that -ize is not an Americanism.

I notice that on your newly created user page there is an error message. I would not presume to edit someone else's user page, but I played about with the syntax in my sandbox and produced this:

"Nothing is impossible; the word itself says, 'I'm possible!'" - Audrey Hepburn[1]

  1. ^ Hepburn, Audrey. "Inspirational Quotes". Brainy Quote. Xplore Inc. Retrieved 12 November 2015.

I inserted

|title=Inspirational Quotes

(the name of the page) after

Audrey

and this produced what you see above.

You do not have to use this if you prefer something else. I quite enjoy finding solutions to little problems like this.

Best wishes, LynwoodF (talk) 21:30, 13 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your help, LynwoodF! I inserted the title into the reference!

Glad to be of help. Best wishes, LynwoodF (talk) 16:19, 16 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:GCA Tour San Francisco 2014.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:GCA Tour San Francisco 2014.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. File permission problem with File:GCA Tour San Francisco june 2014.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:GCA Tour San Francisco june 2014.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 13:37, 12 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

The real image problems

edit

The biggest problem with your remaining images now is that, with different edits, you have listed two people as authors and one as the copyright holder and now you claim to be the author and copyright holder. We do WP:AGF but to us this looks highly suspicious even though it may well be your misunderstanding and your user page does not help us make a connection between any of these people. So, as I advised you at WP:MCQ#Removing Tag from File Description Page, you should get the copyright holder to verify their permission, even if that is you, by following the procedure found at WP:CONSENT, otherwise they are all likely to be deleted. ww2censor (talk) 09:46, 14 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

I apologize for my misunderstandings on how to properly upload images to Wikipedia. I assure you I am not stealing any images. I have followed the consent procedure and e-mailed for OTRS verification of the images. I appreciate your good faith and patience.ADunwoody07 (talk) 22:10, 19 October 2016 (UTC)ADunwoody07Reply
No apologies necessary; it's all a learning curve. I now notice there are {{tl|OTRS pending]] tags on your remaining images, so let's hope they get cleared up though OTRS is rather backlogged right now so please be patient. Next time, maybe if you upload the original file the camera metadata will also be uploaded which tends to indicate originality and if they are your images, just say your are the author, and/or edit your userpage to give some indication that you are the same person who is mentioned as the copyright holder, then it will not be so confusing as these ones where three name were used in different edits. It's just that we get so many falsely claimed copyright images that must be questioned when the statements look dubious but we try to always assume good faith. You may find it useful to read my image copyright information page to see some of the problems images can have. If you are uploading freely licensed images then you should consider doing so the the wikimedia commons where they will be available to all language wikis. Good luck. ww2censor (talk) 09:51, 20 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thank you so much for your help! I noticed that there is a 66-day backlog for OTRS verification, so I will be on standby until they have time to review the images. In the meantime, I'll review your image copyright page! Thank you for the suggestion! Next time, I will upload the original images - I mistakenly thought a reduced size web resolution image would be best for the page. And I will be sure to upload any future images to Wikimedia Commons. ADunwoody07 (talk) 11:28, 21 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
