Hello, I'm Fuzheado. I noticed that in this edit to Susan Hussey, Baroness Hussey of North Bradley, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Fuzheado | Talk 16:51, 30 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Flags of Irish towns

edit

Hi. Most Irish towns do not have local civic administrations (most were abolished in 2014; see Town councils in the Republic of Ireland and Local Government Reform Act 2014). Most Irish towns do not have official flags (whether created or endorsed by since abolished town councils or otherwise). Also note that the source given in this Commons file purporting to be a flag of Castlebar is CRWFlags.com. Which hosts a mirror of the Flags of the World (website). Per Talk:Flags_of_the_World_(website)#Listed_as_generally_unreliable_at_WP:RSP#Flags_of_the_World and WP:RSP#Flags of the World, this source (effectively a mailing list forum containing user-generated content) has not been considered reliable since 2011. There are no reliable sources to indicate that that flag (or any flag) has been flown in an official capacity (or any other capacity) to represent the town or its (now defunct) district council. Hi. Please stop uploading copyrighted images to Wikimedia Commons and then cross-linking those images to Wikipedia articles. The image of that Kildare flag (which you randomly grabbed from Pinterest) is sourced to this Flags of the World forum/mailing list post in which it is not confirmed that this has ever been used as a flag to represent the county. And, even if that forum discussion did imply as much, the "Flags of the World" discussion forum has long been considered an unreliable source. Please read Wikipedia's guidelines on reliable sources (and the burn on those making changes to provide one. And, indeed, Wikimedia's policy on uploading random images you just happen to find via a Google search. Guliolopez (talk) 19:57, 4 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
