Non-free image use

edit

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload files. However, it appears that one or more of the files you have uploaded or added to a page, specifically Pat Morita, may fail our non-free policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted file of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:03, 28 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

File:Pat-Morita (Karate Kid).jpg is licensed as non-free content which means each use of the file on Wikipedia needs to satisfy Wikipedia's non-free content use policy. There are ten non-free content use criteria which need to be satisfied and one of these in non-free content use criterion #1 (see WP:FREER). This criterion states that freely licensed content should be used instead of non-free content whenever possible to serve the same encyclopedic purpose. In this case, the public doimain file File:Pat Morita 1971 publicity photo.jpg is more than sufficient for primary identification purposes in Pat Morita. If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask them below, at WP:MCQ or WT:NFC, but please don't re-add the non-free image to the Morita article again. If you continue to do so, an administrator will eventually be asked to intervene and take appropriate action to prevent any further disruption and violations of Wikipedia policy. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:24, 28 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
It was explained to you above, why the Mr. Miyagi image cannot be used in the Pat Morita article. It's going to be assumed that you read posts added to this talk page and that you understand them unless you ask questions. So, if you don't understand why a non-free image cannot be used in the Morita article, please ask for help. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:27, 22 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
