Statistics on DTES sex trade edit

Hi 31jetjet,

Regarding your recent edits to Downtown Eastside:

The article's source for the number of sex workers in the DTES[1] says "Current estimates in the suggest that there are between 1,000 and 1,500 sex trade workers in Vancouver and most work in the DTES." (p. 25 according to the document footer, or p. 26 in the PDF file).

For the second time in 24 hours, you have changed the article to say that there are 1,000 to 1,500 sex trade workers in the DTES. This is clearly not what the source says. Both times that you made this edit, you included no Edit summary and you marked the edit as minor. I will revert your most recent change so that the article content matches its source. If you disagree, please start a discussion at Talk:Downtown Eastside. Thanks, Clayoquot (talk | contribs) 05:15, 8 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

P.S. If you have a reliable source that estimates there are 1,000 to 1,500 sex trade workers in the DTES, please do add it. If estimates vary, then we can and should include more than one. Cheers, Clayoquot (talk | contribs) 05:25, 9 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Vancouver has 1000-1500 sex workers and "most" of them work in the DTES? Vancouver has 1000-1500 sex workers? How do they get this number? After they have been arrested or in the hospital after an assault? That's inaccurate representation. I think it would be more accurate to state that most of Vancouver's 1000-1500 outdoor sex workers, work in the DTES. I think it is easy to look at the many adult entertainment websites to see that most Vancouver sex workers, indoor sex workers, work online. I will attempt to find a more recent source as opposed to the 2009 source that was provided. This is a topic that is hard to source for the simple fact that we are dealing with an occupation that is notorious for their privacy. I think it would be prudent to add the word "outdoor" until I can find a more up to date source.

Please know I mean no harm in my actions, I am not here to vandalize the page however I will continue to struggle for equality.31jetjet (talk) 01:16, 10 May 2016 (UTC)31jetjetReply
