  • Here are some articles where you can practice adding links to other articles. When you've got at least two blue links in the article you can remove the code {{Dead end|date=Month year}} from the top of the page.
• Add pictures from Wikimedia Commons using [[double square brackets with|thumb for thumbnail|Left, right or center so it knows where to go|a meaningful caption|alt=a description for blind people]]

• Now you know how to add pictures to Wikipedia, why not add your own? This shows you articles that are near you. Is there one without a picture or where you could take a better one? In many countries modern buildings are still copyrighted, but not in the UK and some other places. This is the upload page on Wikimedia Commons.
• Add headings with ==double equal signs==
  • If an article has sections two editors can edit different sections simultaneously without edit conflicts. Four or more sections and you get a table of contents.
  • Here are articles where you can practice adding sections when you've finished splitting an article into sections you can delete {{sections|date=Month year}} from the top of the page.

• When you add information to Wikipedia please summarize things in your own words, and tell us where you got the information from in the following format <ref>[The webpage, book or magazine you are citing, a description, the word "retrieved" and today's date]</ref>
• If you find unreferenced information on Wikipedia that you consider dubious or unlikely, first try to reference it yourself. If you know it is wrong, correct it, if you can't find a source then {{fact}} adds the famous [citation needed]. If, after a week no-one has referenced the information, feel free to remove it.

Many Wikipedians organise themselves by subject area, we have hundreds of WikiProjects ranging from Arts to Zoology, and I'm sure there will be ones that fit your interests. A good place to look for them is Category:WikiProjects by topic, alternatively the talkpages of articles you are interested in may have links to relevant Wikiprojects.

Disambiguation links on journal articles

Thanks for all your edits on various journal articles. Could you check that wikilinks you add point to the articles you intended, as many (eg journal, index) point to disambiguation pages which is not helpful to the reader.— Rod ^talk 09:07, 31 January 2021 (UTC)

Journal articles

Hi, thank you for your edits on articles on academic journals, we need more knowledgeable editors in this area! However, I have undone several of the edits that you made today (not all, I don't have time to check everything) because they are either no improvement or even unwanted. Here's some of the issues: you added unnecessary bolding or italics to several article. We only bold the article title in the first sentence of the lead and only use italics for journal or book titles. You also added quite a few unnecessary wikilinks: we only link the first occurrence of a word/expression, we don't link parts of a name (for example, we don't wikilink "mental health" in the name "Institute for Mental Health". We do not add initialisms ("IF") if they are not used in the rest of the article. Also, we do not generally wikilink words that are so common that it may be assumed that people know what it is ("Germany", "research", etc).

Have a look at our journal article writing guide for what is needed to make a good article on an academic journal (which includes medical and scientific journals). Some useful resources are listed on my user page (including pre-formatted references). Don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page if you have any questions.

I hope you are not discouraged by the fact that I undid several of your edits. Starting editing WP is difficult as there are many details you need to know, but editors here are generally welcoming and willing to explain things that are not clear. Hope this helps.

Hello, can you introduce yourself ? Why are you reverting my editing ? I have check the guidelines, but I do not think I made something wrong. Please explain. I feel your warning is kind of your own feelings. I don't feel it is objective view. However, I follow the guidelines at any how. Small editing is also important because it means it is getting paid attention from all users. Better than nothing also. • I explained in detail above why I reverted your edits. You most certainly did several things wrong. You added unnecessary wikilinks or wikilinks to targets that were misleading. You introduced tags that were useless or even screwed things up (like unnecessary "nowiki" tags). And while you are in principle correct that nobody here is "boss", admins like myself can block editors from editing if they damage the encyclopedia no matter how well intended. And while I accept that your intentions are good, if you continue making edits after having been told that they are undesirable is considered disruptive and will lead to a block. Removing blanks

Please don't make any edits that only remove some extra blanks. The WP software is such that there is no difference in the output. Edits like this should only be made as a part of a more important edit (if at all), because otherwise they just clog up the watchlist of other editors. • You need to familiarize yourself with how WP works. A watchlist lists all changes made to articles that an editor is interested in. So making edits that don't change anything (like removing extra blanks) will leave an alert on all those people's watchlists. Even worse if you use 4 sequential edits to remove 4 extra blanks, that will leave 4 alerts, and people will need to check to see what's going on. Such changes can be done in one single edit, at the same time that something really substantial is changed. If you have nothing substantial to contribute, you don't remove those 4 spare blanks either as a courtesy to those editors who are watching the page.
