File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Cousinbox.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Cousinbox.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 14:12, 24 November 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 14:12, 24 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

File copyright problem with File:Cousinbox.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Cousinbox.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:03, 25 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Your user name and signature edit

Hi. Please seriously consider customizing your signature (in your account preferences) to include a transcription or nickname in Latin characters in addition to your user name, so that users who can't read Chinese will be able to refer to you. See WP:SIG#NL and Wikipedia:Username policy#Non-English usernames. Thanks. Richwales (talk · contribs) 07:03, 27 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello user Richwales. Actually, I honestly cannot really read Chinese either although I am trying. The name is of some significance and I feel to use pinyin would detract from the verve. You can search for this name in the English Wikipedia and get the translation if you are curious. :-) —贾宝玉 (talk) 07:23, 27 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
"The name is of some significance" . . . but the point is that a user/account name like yours (贾宝玉 / 賈寶玉) has no significance to anyone who doesn't know Chinese or know (as I do) how to use tools like Google Translate. The policy doesn't by any means forbid account names with non-Latin characters (you were able to create your account, after all!); it just strongly requests that people using such names should customize their signatures to include something in Latin characters, for the benefit of other editors to whom your account name is just meaningless squiggles or chickenscratch. For example, something like "贾宝玉 / Jia Baoyu" — or maybe "贾宝玉 / Jade". And note, again, that the request is for people to customize their signature (in their "user profile" preferences) — not to change their account name (I'm sure some people would prefer to require Latin characters in the account names themselves, but that is explicitly not the current policy). Richwales (talk · contribs) 20:22, 27 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
I will bear this in mind but am not going to use Latin characters in my name at the moment. The guidelines say only "encouraged" and not "strongly encouraged" and this is a literary reference. However, I will agree to modify the signature so that my name links to the pinyin. That is all I am willing to accommodate right now. —贾宝玉 (usertalkcontribs) 21:26, 27 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

If you really do take that cousins issue to ANI, the first thing that's liable to happen is that someone will complain about your signature. Then they'll point out that you're bringing a content dispute to ANI, and they'll send you to a dispute resolution process. That's assuming they don't block you for trying to continue an edit war by proxy. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 08:16, 27 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps you are right, but if so then my choices here are edit war in person or edit war by proxy. Dispute resolution requires a talk page discussion that failed. This user will not USE talk pages. I wonder what you suggest? —贾宝玉 (talk) 08:46, 27 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
If your sole complaint on ANI would be his refusal to discuss, they might send you in a different direction, such as "third opinion". ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 14:56, 27 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Looks like he's finally posted responses to the points you made. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 15:39, 27 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Your User page edit

Hi! I was just look at Recent Changes, and your change to your user page popped up, and its size made me curious. After taking a look, I have to ask a question--are you using your user page in preparation for writing an article? If not, then you should probably remove that information. Per Wikipedia's userpage policy, userpages cannot be used to present on a large scale your opinions of topics outside of Wikipedia. User pages should be focused primarily upon your editing practices, interests, etc., with respect to Wikipedia. As Wikipedia is not a web host or forum, you cannot use your userpage as a place to present your personal opinions about political topics. Qwyrxian (talk) 10:35, 27 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi. The user page is a preparation of changes to Cousin marriage law in the United States by state. This is not a small task and I want it to be thorough. —贾宝玉 (talk) 10:56, 27 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
The normal approachh for that kind of work would be to create a new sub-page, such as User:贾宝玉\sandboxBaseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 14:55, 27 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Ok, I will create a new child page and clear out the main one. —贾宝玉 (usertalkcontribs) 22:14, 27 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
