Hello, I have got a request from Kalamkar (it is the transliteration of the Devanagari username), who was quite upset after the block.
I met Kalamkar during a Wikipedia workshop on 11 and 12 November in a northern Indian city, which I attended mostly as a resource person and really enjoyed talking to him.
I'll try to tell here a few things keeping WP:OUTING in mind. Kalamkar is working in a news channel, in a northern India city. The office has shared IP address(es), and shared computers also. Some of his colleagues also use/edit Wikipedia.
I know it is quite difficult situation, specially when CUs have evidence. However, I know that "Kalamkar" is a real person, and he edits under this account. He is a very gentle and soft-spoken person. It would be great if we can do something to help him, if he is innocent. --Tito Dutta (talk) 06:38, 9 January 2018 (UTC)
- @Titodutta: The best would be for the user to post an unblock request here and disclose as much as he feels comfortable with, particularly technical data. Anything private he can e-mail me, but I need more before I can consider unblocking him. He should focus on the technical. For example, what are the IP(s) he uses at work to edit Wikipedia? Does he also edit Wikipedia using his own ISP? What provider and what are those IPs? What devices does he use at work? - Hi, Tito Dutta in reply to your ping regarding this, I reported User:कलमकार (Kalamkar) as his style of creating articles was very similar to User:Yavarai and both hovered around this page Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election, 2017, as you know Yavarai was a sock of User:Michaellko. Yavarai had come to my attention when he created these two articles Praveen Tiwari and Shrivardhan Trivedi both were promotional. Two days after Yavarai was blocked कलमकार (Kalamkar) was registered, both user pages on the Hindi Wikipedia were similar but कलमकार has since requested it to be deleted. The whole thing doesn't add up as I feel they have not been upfront with their usage of multiple accounts but if you feel कलमकार (Kalamkar) was wrongly blocked I have no objection to his unblocking (I probably don't have a say in it anyway) but if Bbb23 and gab are fine with it am okay with it too. - Hello,Bbb23 as per your suggestions let me explain my edits at Wikipedia. I really don't know what kind of evidences the CU found with my user ID. However I guess it's the shared IP address I used. To my surprise my used id is identified as shockpuppet of one MICHAELLKO whom I don't know. Similarly with my ID some of my colleagues at 'SAHARA NEWS NETWORK' are also blocked having IDs User:Prem journalist, User:Sudhir kumar sahara samay, User:अंकित तिवारी, User:महेद्र, User:महेन्द्र माही. All these persons are journalist working as SAHARA TV. They were my colleagues when I was with SAHARA. We used to work under one roof and with one IP address. Apart from it I don't have any idea about user:Yavarai. I have only one ID and that is कलमकार (Kalamkaar) mainly active on HINDI Wikipedia. All the admins of HiWi knows me and contributions very well. In no way I am related to any kind of vandalism or multiple account activity. So I request you to kindly look in to the matter and unblock me on English Wikipedia. Regardsकलमकार (talk) 12:31, 24 November 2018 (UTC)
