I need your advice/help

edit

Hello. Me and another editor have stumbled upon an article replication for the article Monsieur Doumani. The replication is this: Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Monsieur Doumani. What are we to do in this situation? The first article has been reviewed. The subject is also covered in the Greek Wikipedia and it has met the notability criteria there. I would like to add that the notability of this band is in its reworking and evolution of Cypriot folk music, something that has never existed before in the traditional music of Cyprus. It is also the first case I know of that Greek Cypriot traditional music has been acclaimed internationally and has reached notable reviewers and listeners. I believe that is worth being included, because their work has a cultural dimension, beyond simply making music, since they are keeping a tradition of a culture alive while developing it within the context of modern society. We however do not know what to do in this situation. There is quite a large number of material in the page waiting for review, the article is already up on another page, and the subject is already included within the Greek Wikipedia. Can you help us of how to proceed? We would like to transfer the information from the unpublished article to the published, but due to the situation as it is, we have no idea how to deal with it and what the rules indicate.--Tco03displays (talk) 16:17, 4 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Blocked account / ip in Greek Wikipedia

edit

Montjoie-Saint-Denis !!! talk 21:35, 29 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
ManosHacker talk 16:17, 2 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Montjoie-Saint-Denis !!! talk 16:29, 2 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Ost316. I noticed that you recently removed all content from November 10 (Eastern Orthodox liturgics). Please do not do this. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. As a rule, if you discover a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If a page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you wish to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Ost (talk) 20:59, 9 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Ost316: Hello, this was supposed to be a semi-automatic modification with the intention of only replacing the cross representation with a higher quality and vectorized one. So, the page blanking that resulted from this modification somehow leaves me wondering. 😕 Montjoie-Saint-Denis !!! talk 21:02, 9 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
That is concerning and I hope that you figure out what happened so that you can prevent it or notice when it happens. I saw the change to the picture and figured the blanking was erroneous; I probably should have just removed that one edit, so thanks for restoring the change that you were trying to make. —Ost (talk) 21:14, 9 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Ost316: Thank yoy for your understanding and sorry for the unvoluntary blanking of the article in question. Montjoie-Saint-Denis !!! talk 21:16, 9 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Please take a moment to update your signature

edit

Hi there! You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.

The problem: Your signature does not contain a link to your user page, your user talk page, or your contributions page.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box.
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Change the signature to make the signature appear how you want it to appear.
  3. Click Save to update to your newly fixed signature.

More information is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. Thanks. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:33, 12 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

The tartan SVG images

edit

I know you meant well, but that entire series of conversions to SVG made the colours exaggeratedly over-saturated or neon-bright, and misrepresents the appearance of the tartans. They shouldn't be used to illustrate Wikipedia articles, and a good argument can probably be made at Commons to just delete the entire set of them as faulty.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  13:23, 16 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

@SMcCandlish: OK, thank you for letting me know. In this case, what I suggest is that either you ask them to delete the whole set - as you said - as inaccurate or you ask them to change the colors so that they match the previous non-vector version of these files. 🙂 🏺 ⲈⲨⲐⲨⲘⲈⲚⲎⲊ 🏛️ ⲱⲑⲏⲥⲁⲧⲉ 14:24, 16 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'm not even sure the editor who created those SVG versions is around any longer. Will look into it as time permits, and if I don't hear from them in a timely fashion, I'll probably move all those SVG versions into a subcategory named something like "Faulty SVG versions of tartans from the Vestiarium Scoticum" to facilitate later deletion, and to make it clearer not to use them in the interim.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  23:08, 16 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for this translation. Thank you too for adding the "Translated page" tag on the Talk page. However, while that is very useful it is also an optional extra, but the edit summary attribution is necessary, for copyright reasons. Please see WP:TFOLWP for why and how to do this.
