Re: Humoresque

No problem. I agree, the viola has a beautiful mellow sound which is effective in that piece. Another good viola clip on Wikipedia is the prelude to Bach's 5th Cello Suite. I put back the Dvořák song cycle, as it's quite relevant to the composer article - feel free to remove that again if it's too bad - I myself can hardly hear any consonants in it. I'm relaxed about what audio files should be placed in articles ... I realise we don't have much and we have to make use of what audio is available. As long as you don't go round adding this file to Chopin's article. :-) Graham87 07:54, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, I probably wasn't clear enough above, a consequence of trying to muddle too many ideas into one paragraph. Either that, or I've misunderstood you. I made this edit to Dvořák's article, to put Biblické Písně back, as the file is very relevant to the composer. I'm aware that you don't like that performance much, so feel free to remove it. I then made this edit to add the Op. 75 Romances to the Dvořák article, since they don't fit anywhere else. I've tried to follow the convention of listing articles where audio of a composers works can be found, then adding audio that won't fit anywhere else besides the composer's articles. That is why I didn't add the Humoresque to the main Dvořák article.

It's a nice article. I've copyedited it, compacted the refs, and used level 3 headings instead of bolding per the Manual of Style. I find it fascinating that he completely forgot that he composed the violin and viola trio - I can't even imagine doing that! Drobnosti a Romantické kusy

Hello Vejvančický, your Dvořák article was very interesting. I didn't know the background of those pieces, but now it all makes sense. I made a couple of edits to make a some things clear. If I have made incorrect changes, please revert them.

To my knowledge, neither the "Terceto" nor the "Drobnosti" are referred to outside the Czech Republic with the Italian word "Trio". Your souces may say otherwise. For me, they are known as "Terzetto in C Major" and "Miniatures". Drobnosti seems to be only published as "Drobnosti = Kleine Stücke = Miniatures" (Czech, German, and French/English) – they are not published under the title "Bagatelles" (although this is a legitimate translation). When I think of Dvořák's "Bagatelles", I think of "Maličkosti", Op.47, B.79. Do your sources refer to "Drobnosti" as "Bagatelles"? or is this a translation? The use of the title "Bagatelles" in the article is confusing for me (i.e. Dvořák stated: "I am writing little Bagatelles...").

I own a score of the Romantic Pieces, so I added key and time signatures to the movements per my score. Looking at the manuscript of the first page for the "Miniatures", the key signature seems to be "B♭ major" (B dur), not "B major" (H dur). As I don't have access to a score of Dvořák's Miniatures, I can't confirm the key signatures for the remaining movements. Would you mind doublechecking?

1. Cavatina (Moderato), B major, 4/4 => B♭ major
2. Capriccio (Poco allegro), D minor, 2/4
3. Romance (Allegro), B major, 4/4
4. Elegy or Ballad, (Larghetto), B minor, 9/8

Hi Vejvancicky, thanks for the hello. Yes, I agree I need to find citations for the edits I made. What I wrote was very sloppy. But I felt getting rid of reference to the "denunciation controversy" in the opening was worthwhile, even if I only made it slightly better. It is too bad there are not more editors working on this page, because it needs a whole lot of work -- and it would be good to have a number of other people to exchange opinions with. Appropriate picture?

While I've been enjoying your improvements on the Jaroslav Krček article so far, I have to admit I don't see the point for an extra picture of the composer, moreover a late 20th century photo inserted in the Raab (1971) specific section. Wouldn't you consider this picture instead?

Listing the "regions" in the first section is redundant since they are each (except Brněnsko) discussed in detail in the table. I think we need to delete them from this part, only discussing general set-up, characteristics and influences.

Moravian Slovakia is divided into several subregions:

• Dolňácko Region, divided into three sub-regions.
• Horňácko Region
• Podluží Region
• Uherskobrodsko Region
• Hanácké Slovácko Region
• Luhačovické Zálesí Region

Moravian Slovakia encompasses the districts of Hodonín and Uherské Hradiště, and partially stretches also into the districts of Břeclav and Zlín.

A part of permanent exhibition in the Čáslav museum is dedicated to Dusík. It's called Jan Ladislav Dusík a jeho doba (English: "Jan Ladislav Dusík and his Time"). I've noticed your improvements, good work. I know some of his music, and it's not my favourite, but his adventurous life is very interesting.
