Gregory Lee Ogdahl (born September 6, 1971) is a Joint Qualified Officer (level 2) with the rank of Major in the United States Army. He is currently mobilized under United States Army Cyber Command as the Chief Knowledge Officer for a Task Force.

Early life and education

Ogdahl was born in Glenwood, Minnesota, the son of Gerald L. Ogdahl, a retired United States Army Lieutenant Colonel who servered in the during the Vietnam War, and Mary Jean Ogdahl. Ogdahl's grandfather served in the Burma campaign during World War II.

Ogdahl was awarded a ROTC Scholarship and attended Saint Cloud State University. Ogdahl also attended the University of Minnesota earning a Master's degree in the Management of Technology. Additionally he is a graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College. He has taken other military courses at the Joint Forces Staff College/National Defense University and the United States Army War College.

Military career

Ogdahl's military career began when he enlisted in 1989 and assigned to the 410th Signal Company in Junction City, Wisconsin. His initial MOS was 29J, Army Teletypewriter Equipment Repairer. During his senior year of high school, he applied and was awarded a ROTC Scholarship. He attended Advance Camp at Fort Lewis, Washington and Cadet Troop Leadership Training at Fort Lee in 1993. Ogdahl was commissioned as a Signal Officer on 11 March 1996.

In 2001, Ogdahl was honorably discharged from the military. In 2008, he once again took the oath of office and returned to the military in the Minnesota National Guard. Ogdahl transferred to the Virginia National Guard in 2019 to continue his military career within the Cyber Branch.

Ogdahl has commanded at the company level and served on multiple staffs, from battalion to division levels. Ogdahl holds multiple MOSs and ASIs:

Ogdahl has participalted in multiple joint level exercises including Cyber Guard, Talisman Saber, and Yama Sakura. He has also completed two tours of duty to include serving under GEN Nakasone in 2012-2014 as a Crew Commander/Force Development Officer and then the Executive Officer of a cyber operations team.

Civilian career

Ogdahl has held careers in the financial and banking, retail, and technical sectors. He is a member of various organizations to include FBI Infragard (previous board member), Cyber Security Summit (initial founder), ISACA and Military Cyber Professionals Association.
