FIGS is a medical apparel company founded in 2012. The company focuses on developing high-quality, antimicrobial medical apparel with an emphasis on comfort, fit, fashion, and performance. Through their Threads for Threads initiative, for every set of scrubs sold, FIGS gives a set to a healthcare provider in need in resource poor countries around the world. FIGS is a certified B-Corporation.
History
editFIGS was founded by Heather Hasson and Trina Spear in 2012. [1]
Hasson had originally launched FIGS as a tie company in 2010. With every purchase of a tie, FIGS Ties donated a school uniform to a child, giving them a chance to get an education.[2] In many parts of Africa, children cannot attend school without a proper uniform. Over 10,000 uniforms were distributed across over 100 schools in Kenya, Tanzania and more. [3]
In 2012, Hasson and Spear grew the vision of the company from school uniforms to medical uniforms to address the needs of medical professionals domestically and globally.[1]
In June 2013, FIGS raised $2MM in seed funding from Crocs, Mohr Davidow Ventures, 500 Startups, Karlin Ventures, James Pallotta and others.[4]
Products
editFIGS currently offers scrub tops and bottoms made with wrinkle-resistant and lint-free fabric that wicks moisture and stretches with movement. The scrubs focus on quality, comfort and style, featuring tailored profiles, tagless collars, and double-stitched pockets. [1]
FIGS has collections for both men and women. Each collection has a v-neck scrub top, basic scrub pant and cargo scrub pant.[5]
Labcoats, surgical caps, and other products are currently in development. [6]
Distribution
editFIGS sells its apparel online at its website www.wearfigs.com.[5]
FIGS is a vertically integrated company, controlling manufacturing all the way through distribution.[1]
Threads For Threads
editThreads for Threads is FIGS’ buy one, give one program. For every set of scrubs that is purchased, FIGS donates a set of scrubs to medical professional in need around the world.[1]
FIGS also partners with Project C.U.R.E. and numerous healthcare organizations, hospitals and medical schools (International Medical Corps, Mount Sinai, UCLA, etc.). [7] These organizations are educating, training, and providing to areas around the world on an ongoing basis.[8][9] FIGS donates medical apparel to these teams embarking on medical missions around the world. [7]
Since 2012, FIGS has donated over 5,000 sets of scrubs to over 10 countries. [7]
FIGS is a certified B Corporation for its commitment to social impact. FIGS was recognized for its impact in Governance, Environment, and Community. [10]
