Basics About Me
editI am an English-speaking citizen of the United States. I grew up in Fort Scott, Kansas, attended the University of Kansas at Lawrence and currently operate out of Tampa, Florida.
I have resided at various times in Overland Park, Kansas, Chicago, Illinois, Austin, Texas and La Jolla, California.
My Career
editPhotography
editAt present, I am a real estate photographer. I drive across the USA taking pictures of houses using a digital camera. During my journeys, I also capture thousands of images for use in stock photography. Subjects include urban architecture, tourist destinations, rural landscapes and agricultural scenes.
Advertising and Graphic Design
editPrior to being a photographer, I was an advertising agency art director and freelance graphic designer. In Chicago, I worked for such agencies as DDB Needham and J. Walter Thompson.
Interactive Design
editAside from being a print-based art director, I also specialize in the design and content organization of new media presentations. At one time I was well-versed in the use of Macromedia Director. I am also able to program simple Internet sites using basic HTML.
Online, I currently have two primary websites in operation. One is called Fantastic Places, which relates to my photography of architecure and travel destinations. The other is a site devoted to popular science and technology historian, James Burke.
Hobbies
editMusic
editFor most of my life I have been an amateur musician. Early on I played the trumpet and french horn. Later I took up keyboard instruments. First there was the piano. Then came electronic organs. Finally, I arrived at synthesizers. During this phase, I owned devices produced by ARP, Moog and Yamaha. My most substantial unit was a large Moog modular system similar to the ones used by Keith Emerson, Walter Carlos and Roger Powell.
