CVUA edit

We see that you need a little more understanding of Counter-Vandalism before you're granted Rollback. The Counter-Vandalism Unit Academy exists to help users, like yourself, understand the way to identify and handle vandalism through one-on-one instruction. Perhaps you'd like to ask a question of our instructors, or enroll in the Academy. Happy editing!

I understand your point. Unfortunately there isn't much hard evidence of what happens to these things, such as printing and publishing it. It comes from word of mouth. So we'll for now have to pretend it is still happily sailing around. Regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.6.94.129 (talk) 14:31, 4 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

CVUA edit

Hi I'm Obtund! I am you new instructor for the CVUA academy and I am ready to train you. I tend to set up a central page where we can have ongoing dialogue away from our talk pages, and focus exclusively on fighting vandalism. I'll set that up once I hear back from you and we can move the conversation there. Looking forward to hearing from you. ObtundTalk 20:53, 4 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi Obtund! Just as a heads up, I am only on Monday through Friday from anywhere between 7:30am to 5pm in my area so I don't come onto Wikipedia during the weekend. I look forward to learning from you. LlamaDude78 (talk) 11:44, 5 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Okay - when you're ready to begin, just indicate so on your CVUA page. ObtundTalk 22:15, 5 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Talk edit

How do I talk to u without editing someone elses talk bit? — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheSpaceBetween2 (talkcontribs) 02:15, 11 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Some people allow for e-mail communication (which can be seen under toolbox section on the left hand side of the screen as the "e-mail this user" link when you are on a person's user or talk page). However, I only use my talk page and do not offer the e-mail option. It seems like you want some help navigating Wikipedia so I can put a bunch of links on your talk page to help you out. G7 edit

Hey, LlamaDude78, I saw that you reverted the author's removal of a G7 speedy deletion template on Jaydeep vekariya. Not the hugest of deals, since the article needs to be deleted one way or another, but G7 is deletion by author request; the author of a page is allowed to remove a G7 speedy deletion tag, since it's a tag that requires their consent. I've reverted and stuck an A7 tag on it, but no biggie either way; as I said, it's a pretty obvious delete regardless. Thanks! Writ Keeper 14:54, 12 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, that escaped my glimpse. Thanks for letting me know! I have retracted my warning on his/her talk page. LlamaDude78 (talk) 15:06, 12 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks edit

Thanks for the exp on the barbra bush article. What is the process for stopping a bad faith speedy deletion of an article that is listed as both a stub and under construction that is not finished and some jerk decided to purpose it, in fact giving no reasonable reasons? — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheSpaceBetween2 (talkcontribs) 19:04, 13 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

The reason it was tagged was probably because it was entered into the article main space and may not have been ready enough to meet Wikipedia's standards. The best way to start an article would be in a sandbox and since you are a registered user, you are able to have your own sandbox, which can be found as "my sandbox" at the top of the page next to "my talk" while you are logged in. In a sandbox, you can work on an article at your own pace and rarely have to worry about someone deleting or editing it, unless the content is some misuse of the sandbox or violates one of Wikipedia's policies. When you feel that the article in your sandbox is ready for creation, you can than make it live into main space through different methods. I am not too familiar with the specifics of the process as I focus on cleaning up articles, fixing typoes, and doing translations.
I understand that you are frustrated but could you please hesitate in calling people names? People will be more responsive and eager to help you out if you keep a cool head. Best wishes, LlamaDude78 (talk) 19:57, 13 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
