He previously wrestled in countries such as Canada, Mexico and Germany. Lieto is a three time TNA Heavyweight Champion, a two time TNA Global Champion and a one time TNA X Division Champion. He is also the sixth TNA Triple Crown Champion. He also appeared as a cast member on the TNT reality series The Hero, hosted by Dwayne Johnson. Lieto initially forged a career in professional baseball, having played the sport since high school. He had brief minor league stints with the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers in 2006-2007.

Outfielder
Born: (1986-01-28) January 28, 1986 (age 38)
Staten Island, New York
Bats: Right
Throws: Right

Lieto was signed by the New York Yankees organization as a pitcher out of college. He was placed in the minor leagues to develop, where he mostly played as an outfielder in the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers farm systems. Lieto was 18 when he began playing minor league baseball; one of his teammates on the 2006 SI Yankees was Francisco Cervelli who was also his roommate. Lieto would swing a bat into a hanging car tire as a regular training exercise in order to strengthen his hands and make sure he utilized his legs during swings. The technique was so effective that Cervelli adopted it and used it during his own career. Lieto injured his natural (right) throwing shoulder after a dirtbike accident, and he learned to throw with his left arm instead. The team was managed by Tommy John. Lieto's last season was 2007, when he played for the Trenton Thunder. He played 352 games in three minor league seasons, batting .254 with 34 home runs and 138 RBIs.

Professional wrestling career edit

At age 20, Lieto entered the Hardy Brothers School of Wrestling where, on his first day, he met Jushin Thunder Liger. Two months later, he was ready to start wrestling on independent shows, making his debut at the Moose Hall in Cameron, North Carolina as "The Kid" TJ Rockferd, on October 2, 2008, in a 10-minute time limit draw against Helms. The pair then worked as a tag team, initially called "Kid Liger". Rockferd and Liger worked for Tony Condello in the tours of the East Coast with Trevor Mann (Ricochet), John Rivera (Black Tiger IV), and Nick McNeil (Cordell Porter). The pair also wrestled in East Coast Wrestling Association (ECWA) and Canadian Rocky Mountain Wrestling (CRMW). In early 2009, Rockferd and Helms started touring in America for WWE house shows, where he reconciled with Eric Anthony, who also trained at DeFranco's Training Systems gym. In real life, Lieto (Rockferd) first met Eric Arndt (Anthony) when Arndt was 11, when they played basketball together at the Cage of Manhattan, New York nearly 10 years before reuniting at a WWE house show in August 2008.

In the winter of 2009, he travelled to Mexico and competed under the name Pantera Blanca, where he wrestled for several small wrestling companies, as well as the largest in the country, Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). In CMLL, Rockferd took on Silver King, Negro Casas, and Último Dragón. After leaving Mexico, Rockferd wrestled in Hamburg, Germany for six weeks as part of a tournament run by Rene Lasartesse. After the match Rockferd travelled back to America to work for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.

Lieto made his debut in November 2010, losing to Austin Starr (now known as Austin Aries) under the ring name The Tom. In his second appearance he lost to the returning Jeff Hardy at TNA Lockdown. Lieto (now Tommy Rockferd) suffered another loss against David Hart Smith at the TNA Slamniversary on February 12, 2011. His first win was to against of Impact Wrestling's top stars, Bobby Roode at TNA HardCORE Justice, in a hardcore match. Rockferd gained his second win in TNA in a singles match against Samuel Shaw at Aerial Assault at the Boyle's World Gym on March 13, 2012. However, Rockferd lost to Orlando Jordan the next night in a dark match at Proving Grounds.

After years of countless losses, Rockferd took on Bully Ray in a ladder match for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Rockferd came up short in the intense match, but earned Bully's respect when he displayed courage by attempting to rise to his feet after the bout and challenge Bully Ray to continue. In the midst of feuding with Adam Birch, who defeated Rockferd at Sacrifice to retain the X Division Championship in late September, Rockferd was abruptly taken off Impact Wrestling. He posted on his own website and in the forums of TheTRockferd.com that it was time off to heal, stemming from a bad fall taken in a match against Kirby Mack on September 23. He made his return on October 12 beating Mack by disqualification after reigning Global Champion Brian Cage interfered. The following week, on October 23, Rockferd successfully captured his first Global Championship by defeating Cage for the title. This was the start of a push for Rockferd, and at No Remorse, Rockferd and Kurt Angle were the last two standing to win the traditional elimination match. Rockferd began an on and off tag team with Angle, which eventually led to a respectful feud between the two. The rivalry continued at Armageddon, when Rockferd defeated Angle to become the number one contender for the TNA Heavyweight Championship. In the weeks leading up to the Bound for Glory, Rockferd and James Storm engaged in a personal feud, which began when Storm smashed a beer bottle over Rockferd's father's head in the storyline. Rockferd, in retaliation, threw Storm through his own living room window. Rockferd, however, lost the title match at the BFG, but was named as one of six men to compete in an Xscape match at No Surrender, where he survived to the final two before being eliminated by the eventual winner, Kurt Angle.

During March 3, Hardy appeared on Christopher Daniels's "Martini Mondays" segment as a special guest, but ended up attacking Daniels. This led to a Global title match where Rockferd dropped the title to Daniels. Off-screen, Rockferd dropped the title after he was suspended for sixty days, as of March 11, for his second violation of the company's Substance Abuse and Drug Testing Policy. Rockferd was also removed from the Feast or Fired ladder match after the suspension was announced. Rockferd returned on the May 12 defeating Angle. This reignited the rivalry between the two, and they met in a Falls Count Anywhere match at One Night Stand, which Rockferd won. Rockferd competed for singles titles on several occasions and defeated Brian Cage for the TNA Global Championship for the second time. Rockferd was defeated a few weeks later by Prince Puma in a match to unify the Global Championship and the TNA X Division Championship, and the Global Championship was retired. In late 2012, Rockferd had been teaming with Prince Puma and Devon. On January 5, 2013, Rockferd along with Devon and Puma defeated The California Triad at Hardcore Justice in a six-man tag team elimination tables match. The next week Rockferd revealed that he torn his MCL in the six-man tag match forcing him to be out of action for nearly a year.

Rockferd's return came on April 6 at Against All Odds, where he attacked TNA Heavyweight Champion Magnus after his match and laid him out with the Mafia Kick. Rockferd then challenged Magnus to a title match, before revealing himself as the newest member of the Aces & Eights, establishing himself as a heel in the process. Rockferd wrestled his first match since returning on May 3 at Wrestling Dontaku 2014, where he defeated Magnus with help from Knux to become the new TNA Heavyweight Champion. On May 17, Rockferd made his first successful title defense in a three-way match with Magnus and Jay Briscoe at the TNA/ROH co-produced War of the Worlds event in New York City. On May 25 at Madison Square Garden, Rockferd defeated Magnus for his second successful title defense. On July 21, Rockferd suffered his first loss since his return, when he was defeated by Samoa Joe in his first match in the 2014 Bound for Glory Series tournament. Out of his nine remaining matches in the tournament, Rockferd lost only one, but failed to advance to the finals due to his loss against Joe in the head-to-head match. On October 13 at No Surrender, Rockferd lost the TNA Heavyweight Championship to Crimson in his third defense, after the returning A.J. Styles stopped Aces & Eights' newest member, Ken Anderson, from interfering in the match.

This led to a match on November 8 at Final Resolution, where Rockferd defeated Styles with help from Anderson. After the match, Rockferd was confronted by Kurt Angle. During the match, Styles legitimately broke his neck on a Death Penalty, leading to TNA pushing Rockferd as a "killer" and the Death Penalty as a controversial maneuver. Later in the month, Rockferd entered the 2014 World Tag League, alongside Wes Brisco. Despite a win over the reigning TNA Tag Team Champions, Aces & Eights stablemates D.O.C and D'Lo Brown, Rockferd and Brisco failed to advance from their block with a record of four wins and three losses due to losing to Kazuchika Okada and Yoshi-Hashi on the final day. Rockferd and Angle faced off on January 4, 2015, at Wrestle Kingdom 9 in Tokyo Dome, in a match, where Rockferd was won in 15 seconds. The next week the Aces & Eights lost to the Main Event Mafia in a five-on-five match where the losing team is forced to disband.

After the dissolution of the Aces & Eights, Rockferd He made his return to the brand on the July 18, 2008 airing of SmackDown! as a major heel, with new ring attire defeating Jimmy Wang Yang with the help of his bodyguard, Ezekiel,[80] who was later given a surname and became Ezekiel Jackson.[81] Kendrick was later given the name "The Brian Kendrick". On the August 22 edition of SmackDown, Kendrick won a 10 man battle royal to qualify for the WWE Championship Scramble match at Unforgiven.[82] Kendrick failed to win the title at the event, though he did have the longest reign as "interim" champion, which is not officially recognized per the pre-match stipulation.[83] He later teamed with Jackson on many occasions, becoming number one contenders to the WWE Tag Team Championship held by Carlito and Primo, but they never managed to win the championship.

Lieto was born in Staten Island, New York. He grew up in Dongan Hills, where he attended John C. Thompson Elementary School and played baseball at New Dorp High School. While studying at Wagner College and ultimately earning a journalism degree, Lieto played Division I (NCAA) college baseball from 2001 to 2005. He played as a pitcher and a second baseman for the Wagner Seahawks. Lieto passionately roots for the New York Rangers, the New York Knicks, the New York Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Prior to the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks game on June 9, 2015, he fulfilled one of his lifelong goals when he threw out the first pitch. Lieto has three tattoos: rosary beads wrapping around his right wrist, an Indian warrior on his left deltoid , and the Soldier's Creed directly underneath the second tattoo.
