Interests edit
Too many, but there are a couple of significant threads which run through them all.
One major area of interest I have is in knowledge: what it is, how it is acquired, stored and transmitted, and its role in society and human genetic evolution. Fields of interest to this:
- Epistemology and other aspects of Philosophy
- English language and exposition
- Computer Science and Programming Languages
- computer networks and the Internet
- Artificial Intelligence
as well as some others.
I am interested in many aspects of computers, both use and programming, including user interfaces, operating systems, software engineering, computer graphics, computer games, and generally things like computer security, parallel processing, distributed processing and other issues of software architecture. I am particularly interested in the Apple Macintosh line of computers, especially the Mac OS X operating environment and the Cocoa (software) development frameworks.
Finally, I have a great fascination with virtual worlds, both of the literary and digital kind, fictional and real, including science fiction, literary fantasy (such as The Lord of the Rings, but generally not the work of David Eddings or other secondary writers), virtual reality, role playing games, MMORPGs, simulated environments and virtual ecosystems, software agents.
