Tropidurus helenae is a species of lizard in the family Tropiduridae.[2] The species is native to northeastern Brazil.[2]

Etymology edit

The specific name, helenae, is in honor of Brazilian herpetologist Helena Ribas Lopes.[3]

Geographic range edit

T. helenae is endemic to the Brazilian state of Piauí.[1]

Habitat edit

The preferred natural habitat of T. helenae is savanna.[1]

Description edit

The holotype of T. helenae has a snout-to-vent length (SVL) of 7.0 cm (2.8 in), plus a tail length of 12.2 cm (4.8 in).[1]

Behavior edit

T. helenae is terrestrial, diurnal, and saxicolous (rock-dwelling).[1]

Diet edit

T. helenae preys upon termites.[1]

Reproduction edit

T. helenae is oviparous.[2]
