Why doesn't the project tag display an importance grade on it? SecretAgentHS (talk) 21:36, 27 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Minor change edit

editprotected Could the noinclude section in the middle of the template be moved to the bottom and be changed from:

<noinclude>esoteric
Usage
</noinclude>

to

<noinclude>esoteric

</noinclude>

New version of template edit

I've got an updated template at Template:WikiProject Virginia/sandbox which uses WPBannerMeta. Any objections to using it? -- WOSlinker (talk) 21:58, 18 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

  Implemented, any problems please let us know. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:51, 26 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

editprotected There is an occurence of /sandbox in the banner code. Could this be removed. Thanks. -- WOSlinker (talk) 17:40, 23 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Well spotted. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:25, 23 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

missing seal edit

editprotected It appears that the image of the Seal of Virginia used in this template (File:Virginia state seal.png) was deleted; I imagine it should instead be replaced with this image: File:Seal of Virginia.svg. — pd_THOR | =/\= | 19:41, 20 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Done, thanks.  Skomorokh  19:48, 20 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Template documentation cleanup edit

I cleaned up the template documentation a bit. Does it look ok to everybody? BurtAlert (talk) 02:50, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Requesting change edit

edit protected Some changes were made though the banner, including WikiProject Albemarle County and WikiProject University of Virginia which I've added myself and new parameters image-needed, map-needed and unref which I've also added. In addition, I've set QUALITY_SCALE from extended to subpage to have a class mask including the Book, Redirect and FM-Class. It is request if you could please make changes that I've made from the sandbox myself. Thanks. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 03:02, 7 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Implementing custom importance scale edit

Proposing to implement the custom importance mask function, as found in Template:WikiProject Virginia/importance. Instructions for implementing this specific function are found on the template page (modifying a single field), found in the box next to the tools icon ("The /importance subpage is currently not in use. To use it, set |IMPORTANCE_SCALE=subpage. To remove this warning, please delete or blank that subpage.")

This will enable an additional importance designator. The "Bottom" designator (as used on various other projects, see Category:Bottom-importance articles) is proposed to mark those articles that are not within the scope of WikiProject Virginia, BUT are tagged for it because they are within the scope of one of the child projects that also uses this template. Namely, there is the problem that the University of Virginia project tag is placed on all of that school's alumni articles, BUT often their brief attendance at a Virginia college is their only nexus to Virginia, and on the current WikiProject Virginia criteria, this is insufficiently related to merit inclusion in the project. This has led to hundreds of non-WP:VA articles cluttering the WP:VA "mid" or "low" importance categories (or alternately, if not rated, as "???", thus cluttering the backlog stats).

By changing the importance mask, it will enable the WP:UVA tag to remain in use as is. Thanks. Morgan Riley (talk) 18:29, 2 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Morgan Riley:   Question: I don't see a problem here; however I notice that you made the appropriate mod to the template's sandbox a year and two months ago, but have only now requested the edit to the main page. I'm just wondering whether others have objected? --Redrose64 (talk) 18:59, 2 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
My apologies for a clerical oversight! I've been on a wikibreak for about a year now, and forgot where exactly I left off. With some searching, I had actually proposed the same thing a year or so ago, back when I made those edits. I found an earlier post to this very matter archived in WPVA, where the suggested alternative there was to just delete the entire tag. That is sufficient for me (and re-answers my question of how to proceed). I thus humbly withdraw the edit request (until and unless people start re-tagging stuff for it).
