Template talk:WikiProject Nepal/Archive 1

Moved to WP Nepal edit

I have moved the title to WP Nepal for it to be consistent with WP India, WP Pakistan and WP Bangladesh. Let me know if there is a problem with it. Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 12:53, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Template-protected edit request on 13 September 2014 edit

Parameters needs-photo, attention, assess-date and needs-infobox must be added. See: User:Ascii002/sandboxAscii002Talk Contribs GuestBook 15:00, 13 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Ascii002:   Not done for now: Per WP:TESTCASES, please put your proposed changes into the template's sandbox, that way they can be directly compared to the current version and tested in parallel. --Redrose64 (talk) 19:27, 13 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Redrose64: I have made changes to the testcase. Check it! Cheers! — Ascii002Talk Contribs GuestBook 06:06, 14 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
As you have noticed, I've updated the template. I've now also updated the documentation. --Redrose64 (talk) 13:09, 14 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Template-protected edit request on 26 November 2014 edit

There must be the addition of WikiProject Education in Nepal and WikiProject Geography of Nepal. See: sandbox. -- Ascii002 (talk · contribs · guestbook) 09:35, 26 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

"There must"? Where was this agreed, or even discussed? I see no discussion above, nor at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Nepal. Accordingly,   Not done: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the edit template-protected template. --Redrose64 (talk) 14:42, 26 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Changes on project banner template edit

The newly created wikiprojects related to Nepal i.e. WikiProject Education in Nepal and WikiProject Geography of Nepal must be included in the project template. Cheers! -- Ascii002 (talk · contribs · guestbook) 00:47, 27 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yes. But how? AmRit GhiMire "Ranjit" 02:18, 27 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Amrit Ghimire Ranjit: I already have made changes to be made to the project banner template at the sandbox but no discussion was held on this matter. So, the administrator denied to change the project banner template. It will be added if some members of the wikiproject come to the conclusion to add them in the template. Cheers! -- Ascii002 (talk · contribs · guestbook) 02:26, 27 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Ascii002: Again, you're saying "must be". Why "must"? What is broken that needs fixing so urgently? --Redrose64 (talk) 11:28, 27 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Redrose64: Don't go that deep on that word. My intention was just to say that those wikiprojects can be included as they are related to Nepal WikiProject. -- Ascii002 (talk · contribs · guestbook) 13:01, 27 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

CAPTAIN MEDUSA, please clarify. The text you suggest makes little sense, and the existing text is far closer to the text used on the banners you cite as exemplars. Cabayi (talk) 12:36, 15 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Template-protected edit request on 16 September 2019 edit

Can you add the Category:WikiProject Nepal templates to the template. ___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk (We are the champions, my friends) 17:40, 16 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Not done if you want to update the categorization of the template itself, this can be done at the unprotected Template:WikiProject Nepal/doc page, else please create a new revision in the sandbox first. — xaosflux Talk 17:50, 16 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Xaosflux, I've added the categorization at the doc. Can you add a comment at <noinclude>documentation</noinclude> saying something along the lines , "PLEASE ADD THIS TEMPLATE'S CATEGORIES AND INTERWIKIS TO THE /doc SUBPAGE, THANKS", or "Please add this template's categories and interwikis to the /doc subpage, thanks". ___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk (We are the champions, my friends) 20:32, 16 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
That's not necessary. It's already there. Documentation automatically adds the text at the foot of the template's page. Cabayi (talk) 21:08, 16 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Template-protected edit request on 17 September 2019 edit

Can you please remove Italic from "please visit the project page ", and link it to Wikipedia:WikiProject Nepal/Members. ___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk (We are the champions, my friends) 15:32, 17 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Not done I don't see what this accomplishes. WMSR (talk) 05:14, 23 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
@WMSR:It's a sensible, commonsense request. Nothing else in the banner uses italics and the appearance will be cleaner as non-formatted text. Changing the link to the members page is sensible since the project page is already linked and this link takes a reader/potential editor to a subpage in the project which will encourage/entice them to contribute. Reactivating the request.--Goldsztajn (talk) 14:50, 23 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Not done @Goldsztajn: "not done"'ing this again - perhaps if that sentence is reworded, as the requested change creates an WP:EGG - if you say "click this for the project page" it should lead you to the "project page". — xaosflux Talk 13:19, 24 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Xaosflux: Maybe to "If you would like to participate, please visit the project page and add your name to the member's list."
Code: If you would like to participate, please visit the project page and add your name to the member's list. ___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk (We are the champions, my friends) 19:08, 24 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Can you change "|QUALITY_SCALE=inline " to "|QUALITY_SCALE=subpage ". As there is class subpage. ___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk (We are the champions, my friends) 17:37, 17 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Not done please sandbox and test first, also this seems similar to the declined request below - why is this useful? — xaosflux Talk 11:30, 25 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Xaosflux, Please see the sandbox (diff). The reason this is useful please see my sandbox here User:CAPTAIN MEDUSA/sandbox ___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk (We are the champions, my friends) 12:52, 25 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
@CAPTAIN MEDUSA: I'm not seeing anything in the testcases with that change? Perhaps additional testcases are needed first - can you complete that? (Specifically related to this "QUALITY_SCALE" change) — xaosflux Talk 13:02, 25 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Xaosflux, Please see this testcase.
test

___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk (We are the champions, my friends) 13:20, 25 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

@CAPTAIN MEDUSA: so sorry, but I'm not following you - what does that test case above have to do with the request you have to change "|QUALITY_SCALE=inline " to "|QUALITY_SCALE=subpage " ? What is different for the viewer? — xaosflux Talk 13:23, 25 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Xaosflux, So |QUALITY_SCALE=inline tells the code to do this if a user types anything listed below. For example, If a user types ; it would say "NA" because the code doesn't tell what it is meant by a class=File. So by linking |QUALITY_SCALE=inline to |QUALITY_SCALE=subpage (diff) which is linked to Template:WikiProject Nepal/class, which has much class so it recognizes other class rather than a few listed there. This is used for categorizing purposes. After listing to subpage code now knows what class=File so it lists the file at Category: File-Class Nepal articles. This is very useful for the members of Wikiproject Nepal, which can be used for patrolling purposes. ___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk (We are the champions, my friends) 12:00, 26 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
There are many pages listed in Category:NA-Class Nepal articles because it doesn't understand the classes. By adding that it would automatically fix them.___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk (We are the champions, my friends) 12:03, 26 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
@CAPTAIN MEDUSA: ah OK, so the impact will be to place the page in a different subcategory of: Category:Nepal articles by quality, right? — xaosflux Talk 12:49, 26 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Xaosflux, Yes. ___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk (We are the champions, my friends) 12:54, 26 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
  Done "|QUALITY_SCALE=subpage" added per request above. — xaosflux Talk 17:37, 26 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Xaosflux: this is not what was asked for in the sandbox. The effect of your edit is that {} is now being passed through class mask twice, with the potential for conflict: one of them can veto a class that the other permits. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:27, 26 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Redrose64: thanks for the note, that is what was requested at the top of this section which has been a bit messy! @Redrose64 and CAPTAIN MEDUSA: is revision 917776699 from Template:WikiProject Nepal/sandbox workable? — xaosflux Talk 19:39, 26 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Xaosflux: Perhaps you didn't spot the link near the start of CAPTAIN MEDUSA's post of 12:52, 25 September 2019 (UTC). Anyway, regarding your question of 11:30, 25 September 2019 (UTC) "also this seems similar to the declined request below - why is this useful?" - the effect of these two edits, taken together, would be to add nine additional valid classes: future, current, needed, file, book, draft, portal, redirect, project.Reply
@CAPTAIN MEDUSA: Please note that in Template:WikiProject Nepal/class, two parameters (|file=yes and |draft=yes) are redundant since these are part of |FQS=yes. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 20:58, 26 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Xaosflux: So can you replace it with this version diff which stops the conflict. ___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk (We are the champions, my friends) 11:16, 27 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Template-protected edit request on 19 September 2019 edit

Can you add |IMPORTANCE_SCALE=subpage above the |importance={}. Since threse is a subpage for the importance. ___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk (We are the champions, my friends) 13:14, 19 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Not done: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the edit template-protected template. I don't see what advantage that would confer. The importance scale set up by Template:WikiProject Nepal/importance specifies exactly the same five values (top, high, mid, low, na) that the default scale provides. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:27, 19 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Not done: please make your requested changes to the template's sandbox first; see WP:TESTCASES. Please do ALL the changes you want in the sandbox and reactivate when you're ready. This stream of requests, for what ought to be a straightforward usage of WPBannerMeta, is getting beyond a joke. Cabayi (talk) 10:49, 28 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Cabayi, I had tested this before making this request see the sandbox changes. [2] ___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk (We are the champions, my friends) 10:54, 28 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
CAPTAIN MEDUSA, I don't dispute that. What I asked for was that you "do ALL the changes you want". Your reply sidesteps my key point. Is this request the end of the road for this template, or will there be more? Cabayi (talk) 10:59, 28 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Cabayi, this will be the final request for this template. ___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk (We are the champions, my friends) 11:02, 28 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
