Does anybody care about this template?

edit

It's nice that Wikipedia is providing so much free traffic to commercial sites. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Davepar (talkcontribs) 04:31, 21 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure what you mean when asking if anybody cares about this template, but it is widely used. It was also the subject of a deletion discussion, linked from the top of this page, and was kept following that discussion. --auburnpilot talk 15:26, 21 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Adding GlobalAir.com

edit

I would like to request that Globalair.com is added as a resource in place of AirNav. I have been using Globalair.com for some time and have found it to be much more accurate and consistent. I did some research contacting both companies and it turns out that AirNav is updated by users and pilots compared to Globalair.com which is updated by FBOS and airports. If you decide not to replace AirNav you should at least add Globalair.com as an additional resource. Thank you.

The following URL can be used for this template:

** GlobalAir [http://www.globalair.com/airport/apt.airport.aspx?aptcode={{{1}}} airport information for {{{1}}}]

Not done: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit protected}} template. We already discussed this extensively on {{US-airport-ga}}'s talk page in Template talk:US-airport-ga#Adding GlobalAir.com. GlobalAir cannot replace AirNav without consensus, and I oppose its replacement. I have no issue with it being added to the list. — {{U|Technical 13}} (tec) 18:39, 10 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

My mistake, would you please add Globalair.com as I do not have privileges to edit this template? Srwikieditor (talk) 19:45, 10 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

We had come to the consensus to add Globalair.com to the list and it appears that it has been removed. Can we please add it back to the list. I believe it was removed because I added it to the US-airport-minor template and AuburnPilot got mad that I didn't make a comment on the talk page although consensus has already been established for main airport template.Srwikieditor (talk) 12:01, 23 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Although you are correct that I object to the inclusion of this link, I assure you it has nothing to do with anger. As I've said elsewhere, I do not believe the inclusion of Global Air's website will add relevant information not found through the links already included. I will again recommend you post at the talk page of WikiProject Aviation to seek further input. --auburnpilot talk 02:23, 24 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Not done: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit template-protected}} template. I'm sorry. I don't see this consensus, and since someone objects to the change, I'm going to have ask for a discussion for this addition to take place. —cyberpower ChatOnline 07:40, 24 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Consensus has been established can you please change this template to reflect the template in my sandbox.-- Srwikieditor (talk) 16:52, 30 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Not done: What consensus? I do not see any above, nor at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Aviation. Also, per WP:TESTCASES, the proposed change should be made in Template:US-airport/sandbox and demonstrated at Template:US-airport/testcases. --Redrose64 (talk) 17:16, 30 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Sorry the discussion was done at the WikiProject Airports and sorry for not adding it to this sand box and test cases but I just added it and would like you to take a look at it as I am not familiar with the test case process. Let me know if I did that right. Thank you. Srwikieditor (talk) 18:00, 30 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Those testcases are a total mess. It looks like three copypastes from the template code, there are no working demonstrations at all. Have a look at Template:Infobox airport/testcases or Template:Airport codes/testcases (for example) to see how an existing template is demonstrated alongside the proposed change to it. --Redrose64 (talk) 19:16, 30 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Oh wow that looks completely different from what I was reading on test cases. Thank you for the information and I will make sure I do that correctly in the future. Can you take a look at it now and see if I did it correctly? Thank you very much. Srwikieditor (talk) 20:36, 30 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I missed this. I've looked now, and since the template hasn't been fed any parameters, the links are showing with {{{1}}} inside them. --Redrose64 (talk) 16:44, 1 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
That is what they should be showing the parameter given will be the airport code for the airport the template is on. Srwikieditor (talk) 17:24, 1 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Look at Template:US-airport#Example. That has a demonstration using the parameter |LAX i.e. {{US-airport|LAX}} --Redrose64 (talk) 17:51, 1 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your help I have learned a lot, I have made the correction to the test case and hopefully that is the final one! Srwikieditor (talk) 18:55, 1 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
OK, the testcases page now looks as it should, and the links all work. I notice from trying these links that two of those in the live template (SkyVector aeronautical chart for KBOI and FAA current BOI delay information) are not included in the proposed version; also that the proposed version adds three new links (airport information for BOI, GlobalAir.com airport information for BOI and SkyVector Terminal Procedures) whereas the request above is to add just one (Globalair.com). Are Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Airports#US Airport templates happy with all of these changes? --Redrose64 (talk) 19:55, 1 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
I don't see a consensus to make a change, add or remove. It seems that it's mostly the work of a single editor that has no other purpose on wikipedia except to add Globalair to various airports templates. Is there a COI going on here? FWIW, I have no COI in this matter. --Dual Freq (talk) 21:50, 1 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

August 18, 2015, there is still no consensus to add global air. leave the template as it is. --Dual Freq (talk) 21:16, 18 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Not done for now: per the above discussion until COI is determined one way or the other and the sandbox and testcases pages reflect the exact change(s), if any, as determined by consensus. – Painius  03:15, 19 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • Replace this line:
    ** NOAA/NWS [http://www.crh.noaa.gov/data/obhistory/K{{{1}}}.html latest weather observations]
  • With this line:
** NOAA/NWS weather observations: [https://tgftp.nws.noaa.gov/weather/current/K{{{1}}}.html current], [https://w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/K{{{1}}}.html past three days]
  • Explanation of issue:
    • Current external link for weather is broken.
    • This change will replace the broken link with two working links (one link for current weather and one link for weather observations over the past three days).
    • This change was previously implemented at {{US-airport-ga}}.
  • Code is in {{US-airport/sandbox}} (View the diff)
  • Test cases in {{US-airport/testcases}}

Archer1234 (talk) 05:56, 4 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Far better just to remove it as wikipedia is not a travel guide and latest weather is not encyclopedic. MilborneOne (talk) 15:12, 4 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Done MilborneOne, while I don't disagree with your assessment of the validity of the included links, the request itself is simply replacing a broken link with a live one (and thus I have no real reason to turn down the request). You're welcome to start a new discussion if you feel the line should be removed entirely. Primefac (talk) 00:53, 13 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

FAA Airport Information

Can we include the FAA Airport Information that is included in Template:us-airport-minor? ** FAA airport information for {{{1}}} Alpacaaviator (talk) 08:07, 4 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
