Template talk:ITN nom

Dated maintenance templates edit

If this template is wanted, you should name your category something more clear than "ITN from October 2015" (maybe something like "Wikimedia In the News nomination cleanup from October 2015") and follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Creating a dated maintenance category so your categories get created correctly. Use in article space? edit

Should this template be used in article space or talk space? If it's the latter, Template:ITN_note is expressly designed for talk page notification of ITN nominations, and we should probably mark one or the other as historical rather than keeping both around.

Personally, I would prefer talk-page-only notification. ITN is a bit of an "internal Wikipedia" process, and, like nominations for DYK, or Good/Featured status, is not relevant to most readers. Top-of-article alerts are meant to alert readers to potential issues with an article. --LukeSurl t c 14:53, 2 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Wholeheartedly agree, this template should not be in the Wikipedia namespace. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:41, 2 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
I agree with talk-page notification. Main space templates tend to be reserved for problems like LukeSurl pointed out.ZettaComposer (talk) 11:54, 3 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
Just for talk page usage; not for article space. SpencerT♦C 03:04, 5 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
Adding my voice to the gathering snow here that this should only be used for talk pages not mainspace. BencherliteTalk (using his alt account Bencherheavy) 13:18, 7 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
As I argued back in September, this sort of notification should go on the talk page as it is directed at editors, not readers. And we already have a template for that in the form of {{ITN note}}. Modest Genius talk 10:11, 13 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
Agree with talk page use and not article space, per the reasons above. 171.66.209.8 (talk) 19:56, 28 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
