In popular culture
A Pine Marten, named Psispinia, is referred to in Louis de Bernières 1994 novel "Captain Corelli's Mandolin".

Hi, I just watched a BBC entertainment program 'Expedition Tiger' where it was recorded that tigers can live upto 4100 metres. The cameraman Gordon on the program recorded via camera traps existence of a female adult tigress and a male adult at 4100 meters in Bhutan in the himalayan hills. This may prove very important to establish a tiger corridor across the himalayas as a saving effort. Please include this as part of the wiki information. thanks, Roshan. Collapsed state?
editI have arrived from the Gray wolf page where this template is not collapsed.
The flag appears to be set here, however I am not seeing what is wrong over at Gray wolf.
You will probably see the cause immediately.

Edit request re: subspecies

1) Please remove the bear subspecies from this template; it is already overloaded with species. Please change this:
| group5 = Ursus | list5 = * American black bear (U. americanus) * Florida black bear (U. americans floridanus) * Kermode bear (U. americanus kermodei) * Brown bear (U. arctos) * Eurasian brown bear (U. arctos arctos) * Kamchatka brown bear (U. arctos beringianus) * East Siberian brown bear (U. arctos collaris) * Himalayan brown bear (U. arctos isabellinus) * Ussuri brown bear (U. arctos lasiotus) * Marsican brown bear (U. arctos marsicanus) * Grizzly bear (U. arctos ssp.) * Syrian brown bear (U. arctos syriacus) * Kodiak bear (U. arctos middendorffi) * Tibetan blue bear (U. arctos pruinosus) * Polar bear (U. maritimus) * Asian black bear (U. thibetanus)
to this:
| group5 = Ursus | list5 = * American black bear (U. americanus) * Brown bear (U. arctos) * Polar bear (U. maritimus) * Asian black bear (U. thibetanus)
Done — Seems consistent and reasonable; please feel free to revert and discuss. ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 19:30, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
2) I created a template for the brown bear subspecies; please move Template talk:Carnivora/Arctos to Template:Arctos and delete the redirect. (The 2 black bear subspecies are not on any template and are fine just being in the "See also" section of the black bear page.)

Done — I updated the text in the doc for this template as well, feel free to reword. ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 19:41, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
- Tanks. @ErikHaugen:, the Grizzly bear article is semi'd, too. Would you swap out Carnivora with Arctos for me? Rgrds. --64.85.215.198 (talk) 20:05, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
- ok done; I wonder if both templates might be better on those articles? ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 22:38, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
- Thought about that, but somewhere it says having a template on a page that said template doesn't link to is discouraged. I am of the belief that the fewer the templates the better, and since these templates are somewhat hierarchical (class, order, species), it was just a judgement call. BRD applies as always. Thanks for your help. Rgrds. --64.85.216.27 (talk) 12:00, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
Somebody may want to create a 'Bears' template...
edit...that looks something like English. So people looking for a Wikipedia map to Bears can understand it. Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 14:33, 1 July 2019 (UTC)

Leopardus
editSee Leopardus#Taxonomy (This classification has yet to be accepted by other taxonomists). Thus, these taxa (1. Pantanal cat (L. braccatus) 2. Eastern oncilla (L. emiliae) 3. Northern colocolo (L. garleppi) 4. Muñoa's colocolo (L. munoai) and 5. Southern colocolo (L. pajeros)) should be removed from the template, IMHO. --NGC 54 (talk|contribs) 15:18, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
