Philippines–Poland relations edit

Created by Sky Harbor (talk). Self nominated at 03:04, 27 September 2013 (UTC).

  • The age, size and sourcing seem ok but the hook is too long at 212 chars by my count. The article could also use some copy editing and I have given the lead a quick polish. Warden (talk) 10:53, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
  • How about this then: ALT1: ... that Tadeusz Iwiński defined Philippines–Poland relations, compared to other Southeast Asian countries, as a relationship "that was broken by mistake"? I intend to clean up the article, but I'm in the middle of my examination period, so I won't be able to do this until October. --Sky Harbor (talk) 01:00, 30 September 2013 (UTC)
  • Okay, I should ask: what should be cleaned up exactly? --Sky Harbor (talk) 05:24, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
  • QPQ done. I will do this and the other in the next few days, but I can't guarantee the nomination won't expire by then. Oreo Priest talk 14:39, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
  • QPQ done now. Long enough and well-referenced. The hooks, though cited, are both too cumbersome. I suggest:
ALT2: ... that Tadeusz Iwiński called Philippines–Poland relations a relationship "that was broken by mistake"?
It's essentially the same but more succinct. Other minor concerns:
  • It's odd that the state of the relationship is only described briefly in the lead and nowhere in the body of the article.
  • "helicopters worth ₱2.8 billion, the start of a ₱150 billion effort" please translate this to USD and/or some other major international currency.
  • "There is minimal Polish investment in the country, largely due to the prevailing investment climate." It's not clear what this means. What is the investment climate and does that increase or decrease their investment?
  • There are a few links to Polish Wikipedia articles. Perhaps English language redlinks are better? Oreo Priest talk 02:38, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
Allow me to answer some of your points below:
  • I figured that the overall state of the relationship summarizes the state of relations which are expounded in other parts of the article, because in the source it isn't clear as to what aspect of diplomatic ties Iwiński (through Pedrosa) was referring to. In this case, I was under the impression that she meant it broadly, meaning it encompassed all aspects of the diplomatic relationship between the two states, which is why I put it in the lead.
  • I will need to dig up historical figures for that to this accurately, as I can convert it into złotych (which I have a reliable source for, and I added this in), but not into a major currency. I did add a rough estimate of the złoty figure in euros, though.
  • Expanded to explain the prevalence of such a climate.
  • Done.
Is there anything else that needs to be done? --Sky Harbor (talk) 03:22, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
Looks good. I noticed you didn't explicitly comment on the hook - is the streamlined ALT 2 OK, or do you insist on ALT 1? Oreo Priest talk 04:51, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
Oh, ALT 2 is all right, actually. :) --Sky Harbor (talk) 06:09, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
