Could you tell me which portion of the article and which source supports the grape can still be used to make Bordeaux-style Meritage wines outside of France. - Good point about the comma, I missed that. Primary ref #1, the Wine Grapes book sources the entire hook but I always try to add some online refs to assist with verification. Footnotes #3 & 8 confirm that Gros Verdot is a permitted variety in Meritage blends with explanation of what exactly Meritage blends are. Footnote #7 list the wineries that belong to the Meritage Alliance (with a tab between domestic and international), all outside Bordeaux. There is actually one Meritage Alliance winery in France (from the Limoux AOC) so "technically" a Meritage wine with Gros Verdot could be made in France, however French wine label laws would actually prohibit it from being labeled as such so you would never actually see a French Meritage. That said, I figured that having the words "outside of France" was better than using "Bordeaux" for the 3rd time in the hook and for the benefit of the readers who may not immediately know that Bordeaux is a French wine region. These refs are in the lead (FN#1 & FN#3) as well as in the Meritage section (FN# 3, 7 & 8). AgneCheese/Wine 18:22, 28 March 2013 (UTC)
