Clarinet Sonata (Ries) edit
... that the Clarinet Sonata in G minor by Ferdinand Ries is sometimes transcribed for a violin?

Interesting, on good sources, no copyvio obvious. Why is Hill 1982 not used? - I did some formatting, please check. - The hook is not the most interesting, and the fact should be stated in the lead, where "violin" is not even mentioned, and/or and infobox, compare Clarinet Sonatas (Brahms). Other ideas? Cadenza, which is unusual for a sonata? - Side note: the navbox is called Duo Sonatas, and while I know that there are others, "Duo" seems to be the default for Sonatas. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:41, 6 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt: I came across this article when doing new page patrolling and I know nothing on the topic. It seemed interesting to me that a clarinet sonata could be transcribed for a violin, hence the hook. I have expanded the lead section slightly but I do not wish to add a navbox. - I hope I won't disappoint you too much but being transcribed for violin is very common for sonatas for more unusual instruments, nothing specific to this piece. If nothing can be found I'll approve it, but let's try first, - perhaps the cadenza line, which is common in a concerto, but - afaik - not in a sonata? - Not sure what you mean about no navbox, - there is a navbox at the bottom, - also nothing specific to this piece, and with a strange title, - sonatas are duos unless otherwise noted. The section "Instrumentation" is not needed because that's the default. (But if we drop it we may get too short for DYK.) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:40, 6 April 2018 (UTC)

- Even though I don't have Gerda Arendt's knowledge of music, I also think this hook is very pedestrian--but then, the article doesn't have much content to begin with. - Nobody will know Ries, so this is exciting enough ;) - also not too much classical literature for the clarinet.

- @Drmies: DYK is meant to highlight new work, rather than exciting work, and also newly-promoted GAs, be they exciting or be they boring. - I really need a page number for the improvised cadenza. Moreover, that triple citation is more than clunky--it's really incorrect, since appendices should be considered part of the work. Besides, they're not parts 1, 2, and 3. They need to be brought together into one single citation, or as one citation with link to PDF plus two appendices, with their own links.
