About the name
editI originally discovered this person in a non-English source, as Tsing-Jang Kuo. I was pretty sure that was not a pinyin romanization. It took me a good number of guesses before I was able to find the name in the English-language Wikipedia, especially because I assumed to find it in the East Asian order: *Guo Tsing-Yang or something like that.
It is clear from the article that the title form Zing-Yang Kuo is neither pinyin nor Jyutping. Looking at the Wade-Giles and Yale articles, it hardly follows the standard guidelines of those systems either, for they should have no word-initial z letters. What romanization is Zing-Yang Kuo (or Kuo Zing-Yang), and what Chinese dialect is it based on? I have examined several tables presenting different romanizations, but none of them are fully compatible with Kuo Zing-Yang, even less so if the form is supposed to represent a variant of Mandarin (pinyin) Guō Rènyuǎn. As a side note, I know extremely little Chinese, I just have a general interest in the romanization systems of various languages. – Jippe (talk) 18:15, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
