Our Alaskan sisters

edit

"Our Alaskan sisters" up in the Klondike, Yukon, c1898 (perhaps during Klondike Gold Rush)

The "Our Alaskan Sisters" photo needs to be checked to make sure it actually belongs here or has perhaps been misidentified. If it's really from the Klondike, Yukon, it's from Canada, not Alaska. It's also in the continental interior, a long way away from the coastal regions where Yup'ik people would normally be found. I believe the historical inhabitants of the Klondike region were Indians, not Yup'ik or Inuit. On the other hand, if these are really Yup'ik women, the photo location should probably be corrected. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.254.48.59 (talk) 05:15, 3 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

The "Our Alaskan Sisters" photo may not be the Alaskan Eskimo. I took an image from page. --Kmoksy (talk) 10:04, 3 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
I hope it can be used elsewhere; it's a great picture. We don't see many color images from that time period. 50.254.48.59 (talk) 01:34, 5 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
The tailed parkas (in Iñupiaq: ik:Pamiulik) symbolizes the Canadian Inuit (in Iñupiaq: ik:Pamiuligaaluk). But, Our "Alaskan" Sisters? --Kmoksy (talk) 04:49, 5 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
