YSL RecordsYoung Stoner Life Records – In the official website, the label is called Young Stoner Life Records not just YSL Records. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 09:03, 16 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose. That's a primary source. Almost irrelevant according to our article name policy. Andrewa (talk) 12:38, 24 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Andrewa: No it's not, that's the official website to the label. Did you even pay a attention to it? TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 13:01, 24 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
I did indeed. But I also read the link that I gave to Wikipedia policy. I didn't expect to need to quote the relevant part here, but here it is... Primary sources are original materials that are close to an event, and are often accounts written by people who are directly involved. They offer an insider's view of an event, a period of history, a work of art, a political decision, and so on. Primary sources may or may not be independent sources. An account of a traffic incident written by a witness is a primary source of information about the event; similarly, a scientific paper documenting a new experiment conducted by the author is a primary source on the outcome of that experiment.
Now that you have read that, do you still think that the official website to the label is not a primary source? Andrewa (talk) 17:25, 24 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Andrewa: The label is called Young Stoner Life Records by multiple publications, such as Billboard, PopMatters, Exclaim!, The Fader and HipHopDX, even iTunes has the label's full name at the bottom of the page. YSL is just the initials. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 12:44, 25 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
OK, but first things first. You stated above that the website was not a primary source, and that my thinking it was suggested that I hadn't even bothered to read it. In fact the problem was that you either hadn't bothered to read the policy (to which I linked, as do several notices that you have received as part of the RM process), or had completely failed to understand it. Not every website is a reliable source, let alone a reliable secondary source. So before I spend more time examining these further claims of yours, have you now done your homework? I'm sorry if that's blunt, but you were rather blunt yourself above. Andrewa (talk) 15:05, 25 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Andrewa: My first comment was a little rude and I apologize for that, but I still disagree with your opinion. All the sources that I show you are reliable per WP:ALBUM/SOURCE, I pinged other editors in this discussion and see what their opinion on this issue. I'm not looking forward they agreed with me but might explain things better then me. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 16:26, 25 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
I hope you have considered the canvassing guideline. So, you still disagree that the label's own website is a primary source? It may be reliable. That is not the issue. Andrewa (talk) 03:02, 26 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Pinging @Binksternet: @AshMusique: @Kyle Peake: in this discussion. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 15:44, 25 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose the label is mostly referred to as YSL, also Young Stoner Life is in brackets within the lead so people can read what the alternate name of the label is. --K. Peake 06:45, 26 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. The media hardly ever write "Young Stoner Life" by itself without also listing YSL, sometime with one first and sometimes with the other first. But a great many sources list YSL by itself without mentioning Young Stoner Life. To me, it looks like YSL is the main form of usage. Binksternet (talk) 16:14, 26 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
