The Mountain
editCan anyone confirm that facing the hotel is a replica of the Hoover Dam that can be used as a "movie" screen when the water is not running over the dam?
According to their calendar, they should be done hiring in a few days. If you assume that 75% of the jobs will go to people here, that means 6,000 jobs opening up in the next 4 weeks. I sure hope the construction on Spring Mountain is finished!
Other pages?
editDoes anyone know if Franco Dragone is famous enough to have his own page starting with some of the facts contained here? Also does anyone know enough about the old DI Golf Course to build a page for it? It is famous enough, in my opinion, to have a page. Not being a golfer I know very little about the course.Vegaswikian 07:54, 25 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Dragone is already red-linked on Cirque du Soleil and Céline Dion. I'd say he merits an article, although I have no plans to write one. JamesMLane 08:31, 25 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Franco Dragone has his own article now, so I removed the external link to his website from this article. CraigB 04:17, 11 Sep 2005 (UTC)
External Link edits
editIn his last edit User:Vegaswikian stated →External links - moved some links to the corporate page since they are not about Wynn LV.
I have to disagree with Vegaswikian, since Wynn Resorts Limited is the parent company of Wynn Las Vegas I think the corporate link should be reinstated. Misterrick 01:26, 1 May 2005 (UTC)
- The corporate link is still there at the end of the first paragraph. It is my understanding that an internal link should always be used, when available, over an external link. The Wynn corporate external link is on the Wiki Wynn corporate page. Vegaswikian 06:46, 1 May 2005 (UTC)
Street address
editSomeone just edited out the street address. Is there a problem with having the street address listed? Vegaswikian 02:20, 14 May 2005 (UTC)
- Street addresses are generally considered unencyclopedia, and verge on advertising. it is best to avoid them whenever possible. there are exceptions, of course, like 10 Downing Street and 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Kingturtle 02:40, 14 May 2005 (UTC)
- Is there a policy to this effect? I don't consider the address unencyclopedic. In this case, at least, it has no advertisiing value. It's not going to happen that someone gets in a cab at McCarran and says, "Wynn Las Vegas, please", and the cabbie answers, "Where is that?" and can't find the place unless given the street address. JamesMLane 04:28, 14 May 2005 (UTC)
- I don't think Wikipedia has any such policy in effect and I have to agree with JamesMLane putting the address in Wikipedia is not unencyclopedic it can be very helpful to those who need to locate an address or information about a particular place quickly. Misterrick 19:10, 14 May 2005
Picture locations
editIsn't it better to try and locate the pictures close to the text for the topic they are associated with? Why would you want all of the pictures included at the top of an article? Vegaswikian 02:56, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)
The pictures featured in the Wynn Las Vegas article REALLY REALLY need to be fixed because in it's current form it looks ugly! Some of the paragraphs are pushed so far down from the rest of the article because of the insertion of the pictures without any compension to fix it. Misterrick 21:23, 11 July 2005 (UTC).
- A previous editor had moved the pictures to the right margin and did not try to keep them with the text that they support. Based on your comments, I did several things. I reduced the size of the pictures by 1/3rd. I also moved around a lot of text to try and get the text and pictures to work better together. On my display it seems to look OK. Let me know if this looks any better to you. Of course you can try editing the article yourself to try different things. To experiment, just edit and use preview. You don't have to save if the results are bad. Vegaswikian 22:33, 11 July 2005 (UTC)
Hey Vegaswikian, very nice job, It looks really good! A lot better then it did. Thanks for fixing it. Misterrick 01:52, 12 July 2005 (UTC).
Previous Names
editIn the article's chart area it says Previous Names, Would it be incorrect to insert Desert Inn because technicially that was the last name of the property abeit the old property was demolished and this maybe referring only to the new property. Misterrick 02:02, 12 Jult 2005 (UTC).
- Don't see that as being wrong. This is the same problem as the Sands-->Venitian, Dunes-->Belliago and several others. I'd hate to see that box with the Frontier given that part of the old building still exists inside the new one. Vegaswikian 04:26, 12 July 2005 (UTC)
- I see it as wrong. The Wynn was never the Desert Inn. The Desert Inn used to be on the Wynn's site, but it was a different casino. I'm going to change it to "Previous casino at location". THF 22:34, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
External links cleanup
editDo we still need all of those early 'interview type' external links? Vegaswikian 21:23, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
Vegaswikian are you refering to the Today Show and CNBC video? IMHO they should be kept. I don't see any real reason to get rid of them, They provide an insiders view to the opening of the new resort. Misterrick 22:24, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
- Yep. Those are the ones I was asking about. Vegaswikian 22:50, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
Better Marquee Picture
editI'm not sure where that marquee is, but it is not the hotel's primary one. That one in the picture is really plain by comparison. The strip marquee is one of a kind in Vegas (maybe anywhere?). A large block with the Wynn signature smoothy scrolls up and down a large electronic screen "erasing" the contents and replacing it with another add. I just think that would make for a better pic. So if anyone is interested..................70.35.90.142 00:06, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
Internal decore
editOne of the things people (tourists) notice is HOW MANY DAMN TASSELS THERE ARE
it's a tassel-gasim in there°
Number of stories
editThe Wynn is not 60 floors high. Although the elevator does have a button for floor 60, floors 40-49 are missing, due to an Asian superstition about these numbers. The hotel is actually 50 floors high.Sfaaron 06:58, 6 December 2006 (UTC)sfaaron
Le or La Bête?
editI've never been to the Wynn or its nightclub, but I do know that in French "bête" (meaning beast) takes the feminine article. Was the name really grammatically incorrect, or is the Wikipedia entry mistaken?
- Update: the Wikipedia entry was mistaken. See: http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117922362.html?categoryid=1236&cs=1 for an example of the correct name. I have corrected it accordingly. Le poulet noir 09:41, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
5 Diamond Status
editCan anyone confirm that the entire hotel is the 5 Diamond status? An employee told me its just the Tower Suites section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.172.205.77 (talk) 00:15, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
- The AAA 5 Diamond list for 2007 doesn't make any distinction (as it did for MGM's Skylofts), so I assume it's the whole hotel. --Sesameball 20:25, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- As an addendum to this, the Mobil 5 star rating is only for the Tower Suites. That may have been the award the employee was thinking of. --SesameballTalk 19:53, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
Penske Ferrari-Maserati Dealership
editEntry to the dealership was free of charge for several months after opening - it definitely was not $10 from the beginning. The lack of entry fee led to huge waiting lines outside the dealership, which I'm sure anyone who entered Wynn from the parking garage (adjacent to the dealership) during the first few months will remember. --Sesameball 20:27, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- I found a reference so have updated the article accordingly. --Sesameball 20:37, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
Photos
editThere really isn't a need for 3 different photos of Encore and/or the original tower. One of each tower is good enough, the rest should be removed or placed into wikicommons. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.173.252.93 (talk) 05:50, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
Wynn - 45 floors?
editThis article on The Wynn hotel states that it has 45 floors. I have just returned from staying at the Wynn, where my room was on the 60th (top) floor. Either this article is incorrect or there are some floors missing at the Wynn??
