My interest is the towns and cities of northeast Illinois. I feel it's a good reflection on each community to have a comprehensive article written in good, encyclopedic tone. The various existing articles have good information, and the recent addition of new GeoBoxes to many of them by User:SatyrBot has been a classy improvement. Naturally, all of Wikipedia is a shared project, and I believe that shared projects are best when explanation and vision is shared on the Discussion pages. So to explain my recent effort:

  • I consolidated the various sections of "Annual Traditions", "Movies", and "Music" under the common heading of "Culture".
  • I alphabetized the headings. But while doing so, I kept "Demographics" at the top and "History" immediately underneath it, in the vision that these are the two things most commonly placed at the front of encyclopedia articles.
  • I experimented with the size and bolding of font in order to provide easy scanning for the reader's eye.
  • With caution and respect, I remove comments which I feel are not encylopedic. I say I do so with caution and respect because I know they were entered with the same good intent and enthusiasm that I feel when I contribute. But Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and by this definition it needs to contain text which is objective, verifiable, and immediately relevant. Words such as "most", "very", "good", "best", etc are difficult in writing which is viewed (and used) as scholarly reference. This is a complex topic, and one of the reasons that we have a Discussion Page for every article. This is a good page for exploring and handling the topic. What_Wikipedia_is_not

Why doesn't Debs get his honorable mention in Woodstock's history? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.201.113.143 (talk) 07:14, 1 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Woodstock was a primary filming location for the 1993 movie Groundhog Day (although the events of the movie take place in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania edit
