St. Mary's Primary School was opened in May 1842 in a timber chapel. The first teacher/principal was Mr. John Wilson. In July 1844 the enrolment was 6 boys & 8 girls. Since 1842, three school buildings have been built. The current premises received an official blessing at its opening on 19th January, 1926. The Sisters of the Faithful Companions of Jesus arrived on 1st September 1897 and were the first religious community to take charge of the school. The Sisters of St. Joseph continued this role from 1900 until 1998. In 1994, the school was subject to major refurbishment.
It has operated on the same site since 1842, making it the oldest continuously operating school in Victoria[1].

uncited text edit
I have removed significant sections of uncited text that appears to be in this article for a number of years. I suspect some is a copyright violation. Of course material can be re added if citations are found. LibStar (talk) 07:30, 28 May 2016 (UTC)
Wikistalking edit
Looking at this edit, I can't see how the words "Indigenous History" can be justified. History is the record of events and the only records we have of Williamstown from the early days of European settlement and before are definitely not Indigenous. We are not even talking oral history here.
User:Poketama, you should take note of Wikipedia's attitude to harassment. My education began in a bluestone Williamstown primary school and my family has a decades-long involvement in Williamstown's history. I have every right to edit this article. There is, however, only one reason you found your way here, and that is by following me for the purpose of undoing my edits. --Pete (talk) 01:42, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
