Bill Quick writes about this article edit

Mr Quick has criticized this article on his blog, pointing about a blatantly misleading item on him dating from last February. Capitalistroadster has since deleted that sentence. Let's try to do better from now on, hey? Cheers, CWC 13:34, 16 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Blogosphere" edit

The Blog "Daily Pundit" section of this article used to say that:

Quick runs the conservative blog Daily Pundit. Quick claims to have "named the blogosphere" in 2002.<ref>[http://www.iw3p.com/DailyPundit/2001_12_30_dailypundit_archive.php#8315120 DailyPundit.com</ref> The term was actually coined by Brad L. Graham in 1999;<ref>[http://www.bradlands.com/weblog/september_10_1999/ The BradLands: Must See http://</ref> however, Graham didn't seriously intend the term to describe the blogosphere, but rather offered the term for ridicule. It was Quick's usage which initiated the popularity of the term.

The bradlands.com site is dead, but we have Internet Archive's capture of http://www.bradlands.com/weblog/september_10_1999/ as of May 2008, which contains this paragraph:

Goodbye, cyberspace! Hello, blogiverse! Blogosphere? Blogmos? (Carl Sagan: "Imagine billions and billions and billions of blogs.")

OTOH, the Archive also has a capture from January 2000 which does not contain that paragraph, nor the word "blogosphere".

So I have corrected the article to credit Mr. Quick for coining the word "blogosphere". I also added a few basic details about his Daily Pundit blog. Cheers, CWC 05:37, 21 November 2018 (UTC), who spent way too much time here.Reply
