Merge

The merge edit here removed a lot of well-sourced material from the earlier version. I have reinstated it, with some amendments. Ghmyrtle (talk) 07:31, 16 August 2021 (UTC)

@Ghmyrtle:The well-meant move seems to have caused a frightful lot of confusion. I haven't, as far as I know, deleted anything by anyone. My "OK before" was for my revert of my own earlier revert, once I realised that apart from ramming all the text into one paragraph it was much as I had left it. I started the article back last September, and this morning, following the merge which deleted most of my material, I re-added the material that had been deleted in that process, with other sourced details (and an infobox, horror of horrors). Now done, and I think your sources are impeccable. I don't often use ArthurLloyd, but I think its track record qualifies it as a WP:RS, and of course the great Mander and Mitchenson are the gold standard. Tim riley talk 14:27, 16 August 2021 (UTC)
