School of Law

I don't understand why the law school articles were merged. I suggest they be reverted back. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 147.31.208.181 (talk) 08:04, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

Not sure what you mean by this. Was the School of Law section a separate article at one point? I did create an Academics section and made the existing School of Law section a sub-section under it. I never merged anything. That being said, I do think the School of Law should be made into a separate article at some point. Bashen 09:09, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Since this page is becoming larger, I think the School of Law section should be moved to its own page. I believe at one point this was case but now the School of Law page just redirects to here. Any objections on me moving this section to its own page? Bashen 14:43, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

The School of Law section has been moved to its own page as per all the other law schools in Pennsylvania. Bashen 13:02, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Widener University Logo.PNG

Image:Widener University Logo.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Pronunciation?

How is the name of the school pronounced? Like the verb "widen" plus "er"? Or like "widdener?" or "weedener?"--68.175.122.161 (talk) 05:09, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

The former Tedickey (talk) 13:04, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
It is pronounced as two syllables: wide-ner. Bashen (talk) 18:18, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
agree (but the question was about the "i" in the first syllable) Tedickey (talk) 18:20, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

I was wondering whether it was wye-den-ner or wee-den-ner before I read this, and now I wonder if it is wide-ner pr weed-ner. Why isn't the pronunciation given in the article? 75.103.135.89 (talk) 00:30, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

Again, the former: wide-ner (accent on the first syllable). Most topics do not have a pronunciation guide. See also Widener Library, and the disambiguation page Widener (Joseph E. Widener is a member of the family for which both are named, as I recall) TEDickey (talk) 01:06, 1 January 2013 (UTC)
Also George Dunton Widener. I was told that the wife of the chairman of the board of trustees at the time of the name-change was the last surviving member of the family, and that there was money involved (start in Fitz Eugene Dixon, Jr.) TEDickey (talk) 01:08, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

Wesley Combs Smith

What's the notability for Wesley Combs Smith ? Tedickey (talk) 11:43, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

WidenerPride.com

What's the connection between WidenerPride.com and Widener University? I don't see any "about" page on the former, nor it is mentioned in the latter. Tedickey (talk) 11:03, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

WidenerPride.com is the university's official athletic site created at the start of the 2008-2009 school year. The site is linked to from the main university site here. Story about the creation of the athletics site is here. Bashen (talk) 03:11, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

inaccurate statement in lede

A recent edit added an inaccurate statement in the lede. Noting that "originally" cannot apply to the 5th of 9 names for the institution, that was "not an improvement" TEDickey (talk) 21:27, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

If what you say is true, you can simply change "originally" to "formerly". Do you have a source?
Several architects attended this insitution under a former name. It's helpful to include and cover what the institution went by in the past and how it developed over time. Thanks. Candleabracadabra (talk) 21:44, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
According to the material presented later in the topic, "Pennsylvania Military College (PMC)" was the name used for the longest period of time. Perhaps the architects attended during that time. TEDickey (talk) 01:15, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
Albert F. Huntt and some other architects attended Pennsylvania Military Academy. I think the source discussed the professor they studied under as well. 02:46, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
here's one of the sources]. I recall another article by the same author that discusses at least a few of the architecture students, but I can't find it now. Candleabracadabra (talk) 03:00, 3 January 2014 (UTC)

Recent Page Edits, March 2014

I am currently trying to update the Widener University webpage as part of my job at Widener University. For some reason, someone does not want to keep my accurate edits and is calling them vandalism. I'm sorry, but I do not know this person's affiliations to Widener, and I do not appreciate that they are continuously deleting one of our academic schools. That is inaccurate information. I am trying really hard to get this page updated and in shape. It has not been dealt with for at least 7 years. It really needs this revision. Thank you, Aheisler (talk) 15:43, 26 March 2014 (UTC).

Please be aware of the conflict of interest policites WP:COI. I think it would be best if you propose your changes here. Candleabracadabra (talk) 16:14, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for that. Aheisler (talk) 16:49, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

Separate article for Brandywine College
