Talk:Westercon

Why has this page been marked as not citing sources? It certainly does include references to the main Westercon web site, and to the web sites of the two seated Westercons. Are not those three sites primary sources of information about Westercon? Kevin Standlee 15:15, 7 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I didn't put in the source-site link, but: external links aren't considered citations, even if they are used as source material; the flag is talking about footnoted references to support stated facts, and the key is directly connecting the statement to a source. I put in a scattering of such footnotes in my Kenmore, Washington article, for example.
Things that would be easy to footnote include the founder and founding date, but I don't really think it's needed as that's pretty easy to check. I would suggest a cite on, "Guests of honor are chosen to showcase professionals who reside in the Westercon region. Given that there are hundreds of potential honorees, it is preferred that guests are chosen that have not been guests of honor at a previous Westercon," since it's the kind of squishy fact that isn't as trivial to verify. Some of the traditions fall into the same category. Solarbird 15:56, 7 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

When we redesigned the Westercon homepage, the URL structure changed, breaking the link here. I've fixed it. Glennglazer (talk) 04:44, 1 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
