If someone could write up an article on the windows watchdog event logs, I would appreciate it. Rob 05:29, 9 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

A maybe better place for such requests is Wikipedia:Requested articles. Elf | Talk 18:08, 9 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

WatchdogWatchdog (disambiguation)Guard dog is the primary meaning, with respect to both usage and long-term significance; secondary meanings are figurative (metaphorical). fgnievinski (talk) 20:34, 6 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose While "watchman" and "watchtower" is still used in common parlance, "watchdog" seems to me to have been co-opted to refer to the type of organization. I've rarely heard anyone refer to a guard dog as a "watchdog" in common parlance. So I'd have to ask for proof that it is the primary meaning with respect to modern usage. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 21:28, 6 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT. When used alone, "watchdog" still usually refers to a guard dog. When used for other things, the term is usually expanded to something like "watchdog organization". Rreagan007 (talk) 23:37, 6 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. No clear primary topic. —Xezbeth (talk) 06:43, 7 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. The term is used for a number of other topics of comparable enduring notability. See also the usage data [1]: the guard dog entry on the dab page receives less than 10% of the onward clicks, with the computing process alone getting 4x as much. – Uanfala (talk) 13:32, 7 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose per ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ, Xezbeth and Uanfala. WP:NOPRIMARYTOPIC, indeed. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 02:38, 9 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. No primary topic, as Consumer watchdog is also pretty notable and the first word is often omitted. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:19, 13 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
