Move edit

I've moved this "Watatsumi Sanjin" "3 Watatsumi" to "Watatsumi" following the name used in the corresponding German, Italian, and Japanese articles. Keahapana (talk) 01:17, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

To not merge, as there is no cited evidence to suggest they are the same deity.

The both article say that Ryūjin and Watatsumi (Ōwatatsumi) are synonyms then why have two articles?--Redtigerxyz Talk 16:16, 21 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for adding a rationale to the talk page per Help:MergingPrburley (talk) 16:43, 21 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
Disagree. You could be correct. However, these articles lack both in-line citations and citations from Japanese-language sources. Lacking those, I'm not in favor of a merge. Prburley (talk) 16:43, 21 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
Disagree. The nature of the discussion is totally different between these articles. There is a difference between nature deities from ancient times and story based deities which were used to help define a social structure and the power of the ruling class. Merging these articles, even though there has been a historical blurring of these deities, would destroy the major differences between them. I think a merger is a destructive idea. Most articles like this don't cite sources like this nor do they write separate sections like this.CycoMa (talk) 22:04, 21 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
