Another article on the response to the attack on the Capitol edit
The current citations point to an intelligence failure as well the planning failure. Unity of command in the response to the attack on the Capitol is another issue. The article Walter E. Piatt#Attack on the United States Capitol as of 20:49, 15 January 2021 (UTC) documents that in the planning before 6 Jan., the Army was not to be involved with crowd control, but only traffic control by national guardsmen. Piatt was not the commander of rapid reaction forces at a moment when the need became apparent at the Capitol; rather, Piatt is staff, and any force's command was TBD (at best fractured between multiple forces) as of 6 Jan.
The need for rapid reaction was redressed at levels beyond Piatt's, after an uncomfortable delay of several hours in the afternoon of 6 Jan 2021 (video timeline), and involved communication of the situation by the Army Secretariat to federal, state, and local levels. The requests for help have led multiple governors to volunteer the resources of their states' national guards. The communication and needed response was barely addressed on 6 Jan 2021 per the timeline video above, with troops arriving hours later. Ultimately dozens of states pledged Guard support to DC in the ensuing days.
It appears Piatt did what he could, given his station as Army Staff. It appears the 6 Jan 2021 reporting was accurate as far as it went, ultimately leading to unified command of a National Special Security Event by the Secret Service, at least by 11 Jan 2021; the special event planning was begun 13 Jan 2021. --Ancheta Wis (talk | contribs) 20:49, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
No suggestions for such an article, though Command And Control does not seem to be the right article to link here. Piatt was not present in such a Command and Control center at the time of the attack. To the latest entry, disagree that it appears Piatt did what he could. The sentences following that statement do not appear to be related. Particularly as the event in question ended on the 6th. The Unified command by the Secret Service would have occurred regardless, albeit much later than the 11th of January, 2021. --Achilles999 (talk) 01:31, 16 January 2021 (UTC)

Contact Lieutenant Walter E Piatt edit
I'm hoping this gets to LG Walter E. Piatt. This maybe a little unusual but I Didn't know what else to do. This about Scammers using his picture and personal information for taking Money, gift cards, and other items from citizens for the scammers personal gain. This really has to stop. These scammers are ruining the military reputations. Our soldiers are fighting for our country. Our troops probably have no idea this is going with their personal information. I received a contact that said he was LG Walter E. Piatt. Was a romantic text. I got scammed for $2000.00 to help ge a briefcase sent to the US. Then was sent a message from an email:europe.e36@gmail.com. Requesting $8000.00 more. The scammer was very insisted that this money be sent to release this briefcase. There was supposedly an attack in Syria and all personal items of generals and LG be shipped to the US.I have conversations and emails and receipts to prove all this. Like I said something needs to be done these scammers attacking our Military. I and so many americans have lost so much moneyto these scammers. Eric Hill is another ive received request from. Which I have not responded to. I'm Kathy A Jacobsen Hoffman from a small town in Iowa. If I can help do any more to stop these scammers I would love to. Thank you LG Walter E.
