Some notes to build on later: ABX had some noteworthy features, including Alan Watts lectures, Detroit Tube Works (video provided by public TV station), Fireside Theater, King Biscuit, Barrigan Bunny stories and live readings of the Sunday Funnies, ran news from Pacifica News Service (I think), also featured some important counter culture personalities in Detroit such as John Sinclair, Harvey Ovshinsky and regular "Air Aces" Dave Dixon, Dan Carlysle, JerryLubin, "Righteous" (Bob) Rudnick. Sponsored or supported Ann Arbor "Hash Bash", broadcast live the John Lennon "Free John Sinclair" Concert. Musically I think Hendrix, Coltrane, Dr. John, Sun Ra, The Doors, MC5, Teagarden & Van Winkel, Patty Smith, Bob Segar, Blue Cheer, Ted Nugent represent the local/national mix. The radio station also had a close relationship with the Fifth Estate and the Plum Street hippie neighborhood.

Some more logos could be put on there. like the WDTX logo from the 80's and possibly change the WYCD logo in the information box. That one is actually old.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.167.90.238 (talk) 13:14, June 21, 2007

What is a radio station? edit

This article is a great example of why some consensus needs to be established on scope of articles on radio stations. This article covers at least 6 different callsigns, 4 different owners and 7 radically different programming formats.

What is it that ties together all these disparate incarnations in the mind of the author(s) (or reader?) Is the "radio station" the specific frequency in the market? (Call signs and formats frequently change frequencies these days).... is it the studio location and transmitter? (what listener really knows or cares about that?). What is the rationale that an article about WYCD should be anything more than the current radio station? If WABX was notable in the history of radio, that information should be in an article about WABX (History of), since a person researching WABX is not necessarily going to know the information is located in this article.StreamingRadioGuide 11:01, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

If WYCD can trace it's history to WABX, then WABX should be discussed in this article. There are numerous callsigns have been used by multiple stations throughout the years. There is no reason to have multiple articles for every callsign -- that would get ridiculous. JPG-GR 18:32, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
