D4 "platform" edit
I'm not sure it's altogether correct to talk about a D4 "platform" - the D4-generation Audi A8 (and, according to reports, the A7 and future Bentleys) is based on the Modulare Langsbaukasten (MLB, usually translated as "modular longitudinal component matrix" [1], sometimes called MLP), as is the current A4, A5 and Q5 [2][3]. MLB is a more flexible architecture than a traditional automotive platform, hence the wide range of models that are/will be based on it. So, IMHO, it is misleading to refer to a D4 platform, as such.
