Talk:University High School (Tucson)

Can somebody provide a source for the statistics given on the AP? I know the school is unusually strong, but the best in the world is a big claim to not document. Also, does the average student really take ten AP exams? When I went there a decade ago, certainly some did, but it wasn't the average student.Rigadoun 17:53, 24 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I go to the school now and the average ap's each student takes are Chemistry, U.S. History, Physics or Biology, a Language, Calculus A B C, Government, European History or Comparative Politics, and an elective class such as Art History or Studio Art or Economics. This is a total of 8 exams, while many student will take more, I know some seniors who recently graduated that took 12 AP's. But many more students find ways to take a minimal 6 or 7 ap's. I think a fairer average would be that students take 8 ap's. 10 might be a little high.qauz

See http://www.azstarnet.com/dailystar/dailystar/56336.php It says UHS was best in the world, but I didn't see any mention of the average number of tests taken. Tlglenn

I can certainly believe that the average student takes 8 or 10 or whatever AP classes, esp., as has been pointed out, 4 are mandatory, and I imagine that the AP classes are often the *only* classes available for teaching a given subject. Certainly by the time you're a junior, most of your classes will almost inevitably be AP's unless you have a lot of intro language courses or dance, sports, visual arts, etc.

But that's VERY different from AP EXAMS. Just cause you take and pass an AP class doesn't mean you feel up to taking the exam, esp. as you really want to score a 4 or 5 if at all possible. Benwing (talk) 08:18, 8 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

March 2007 edit

Hello all, and thank you for contributing to this school site. I'm part of the Wikipedia:WikiProject_Schools/Assessment team, and I'm reviewing this page, I'm currently giving it a grade of Start on the Wikipedia 1.0 Assessment Scale and an importance of Mid on the this importance scale.

My reasoning is as follows: While this school has a history of record scores, the article is quite shallow. it also needs more information and needs to cite its resources. Thanks! Adam McCormick 23:46, 5 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Clubs? edit

Personal opinion as a four-year anime club officer and current (graduating) president: there should be a section listing the school's student clubs, including name, year founded (if known), and current sponsor (if it's still an active club). Holding off on putting one in myself until I can get a second and some more people who know more historical information that can be added. --Jesse Hannah 04:28, 3 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I would like to start a club section as well on this page; the section can also be used to highlight the achievements by students and alumni (i.e. Mock Trial, Model UN, etc.). Does anybody have any objections and does anybody have an up to date list of clubs?DarkXymphony (talk) 22:53, 30 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:UHS logo.jpg edit

Image:UHS logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
