Contested deletion edit

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... (your reason here) --Ilfd271 (talk) 03:28, 1 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

This article is about an iconic photograph in an unprecedented civil disobedience movement in Hong Kong. As the movement continues, there may be huge impact on China and hence the whole world.

  • I'm declining this because this is a known picture and there is a definite assertion of notability, as I remember seeing an article about this image on the front page of one of my local (major) papers. It needs a LOT of work to improve it to what we expect on Wikipedia, but that isn't a reason in itself to delete. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 07:49, 1 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • I'd probably recommend merging this into the main article for the protests, though. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 08:04, 1 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • My rationale for this is that at this point in time there's not a huge-huge amount of coverage for the photo specifically. It's mentioned in places and very frequently tweeted (although the amount of tweets doesn't in itself give notability per WP:ITSPOPULAR), but it's not entirely enough to really merit a separate article at this point in time. It certainly has the potential to be as such, so I think that outright deleting it is a bit much. However, I will ask around for people to help contribute to this just in case there is more coverage out there in English or in another language. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 08:11, 1 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
