Talk:USS Pasadena (SSN-752)

There seems to be a problem with the section concerning the turtle. I am a native Pasadenan, and I can tell you that there exists no such university as: California Polytechnic University, Pasadena. There is Caltech. There are two Cal Poly's: Pomona and San Luis Obispo.

what else on this page may be untrue? Regarding the turtle? Why was the submarine commissioned into the Thames? I am certainly not a submarine expert, but this seems fishy to me. 134.174.178.123 04:24, 7 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I removed the suspect paragraph:
A little known early fact about Pasadena is the presence of a ship's mascot in the form of a North American snapping turtle. The animal was kept by the crew during construction at Electric Boat, and was even aboard during her launching into the Thames River. Immediately prior to commissioning, the turtle, named Frumpy, was donated to California Polytechnic University in Pasadena, CA.
Pasadena was launched into the Thames because she was built at Electric Boat on the Thames. That makes sense. "California Polytechnic University in Pasadena," on the other hand, makes no sense. ➥the Epopt 04:31, 7 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Exercises with the Indian Navy edit

The article, Malabar 2007, lists USS Alexandria (SSN-757) as a participant in 2004. Possibly Pasadena was the second. Stevecalloway (talk) 02:51, 2 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Corrected: Pasadena was before Alexandria, in 2003.Stevecalloway (talk) 12:54, 5 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Possible history addition: medivac in 2003 edit

May want to add a description of a medical evacuation of one injured male, as briefly mentioned in the history of the USS Nimitz (CVN) - may be of interest that evacuation by boat was preferable to helicopter due to the Pasadena's size. Gth-au (talk) 11:27, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Possible external link addition edit

Perhaps an additional link to http://usspasadena.org/ which seems to be a very thorough resource on this boat. Gth-au (talk) 11:27, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
