Dire Straits had a song called "Telegraph Road"; should we mention that in this article? --SuperDude 23:34, 28 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

No. --SPUI (talk) 01:18, 29 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

There have been several interviews where the writer of Telegraph Road talks about that it was written about Telegraph Road in Metro Detroit.

Thanks for that - looks good. --SPUI (talk) 19:56, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

West of Minturn, Colorado edit

There’s no mention of US 24 historically running west of Minturn, Colorado co-signed with US 6 to the Utah/Colorado state line where US 24 oddly ended but US 6 (along with US 50) continued westbound into Utah (this was mostly bypassed by I-70 and the US 6 alignment is spotty west of Minturn). I believe US 24 was co-signed with US 6 until the late 1960s or early 1970s. But why was US 24 co-signed with US 6 in the first place with signage ending strangely at a state line? It seems redundant to me. Does anyone know anything about this historically? 2600:100F:B129:6B25:906D:D96A:C875:E321 (talk) 09:27, 17 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

I did find some historical information that US 24 existed until 1975 being co-signed with US 6 as far west as Grand Junction, Colorado. However it still left out any mention of US 24 existing along with US 6 and US 50 between Grand Junction, Colorado and the Utah/Colorado state line. I have seen US 24 on many old road maps existing there. Were the maps incorrect or did US 24 really run west of Grand Junction? 2600:100F:B129:6B25:906D:D96A:C875:E321 (talk) 09:38, 17 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
According to the reports indexed on WP:USRD/AASHTO, US 24 was extended westward from Kansas City, Missouri, to Grand Junction, Colorado, in 1935. There's a request for a relocation of US 6/US 24 between Grand Junction and Fruitvale in 1955. Utah and Colorado requested an extension of US 24 west of Grand Junction to St. George, Utah, at the same meeting, but this request was denied. The highway was then truncated in 1975 (noted by AASHTO at Dowd, which is the location of the junction with US 6 northwest of Minturn). There are no reports of it extending farther west than Grand Junction from 1935 to 1975. Imzadi 1979  10:46, 17 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
