Delete the Article

I am requesting that this page be deleted on the basis that it is a non-notable Church in Australia. Please do not revert any changes. If you disagree, please place a hang-on tag and explain why you believe that this church is a notable Church to be placed on Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a place for Churches to advertise their stuff, and it has little meaning for people outside Adelaide - as the Church is not influential or well known. No well known pastors reside in the Church. There is also no base for that the Church was the first Church built in Adelaide after British Settlement - to say the least - St Peters' Cathedral was built before it. Also, where is the bease for the Church having 1200 people? It is a misreprensentation. The Church has a mere 200 people per congergation but it does run various services around Adelaide. There is a little authority for any of the article, and there is little reference. Unless someone can prove that Holy Trinity Church is notable, and find references, the page should definetely be up for speedy deletion. Psmikebabbie 12:43, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure this article should be deleted.

It is brief, but is encyclopedic and gives useful information about the church. It also links to articles about a nearby church. IanUK 12:39, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

The page is both a stub, and is not "encyclopedic" as you say, nor does it provide useful information about the Church. It merely promotes the connection of the Church with an exteranal Christian University organization. To keep the article because it links to "nearby churches" is absurd. Proposed speedy deletion cannot be in good faith!!!! No matter what one thinks of the church it is probably close to the most notable church in SA, only competition would be St Peter's Cathedral, Adelaide Paul foord 12:44, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Many Churches in Adelaide overarch the notableness of the Church in Adelaide. In particular, Paradise Community Church and Edge Church - with 5000 and 3000 attendees respectively. Of course, there is Austral-Asian Christian Church which has 1000 attendees. So on the presumption that the Church is notable - I would tend to disagree. Coolyou008 13:13, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

I think Psmikebabbie has a complex about Australian churches. Each of those articles look fine to me. They are stubs, but fine nonetheless. I still oppose the deletion of this article. IanUK 13:03, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

The deletion of items of notability is problematic, possibly related to earlier speedy deletion nominations. The new criticism section may be OK with editing for NPOV. Paul foord 13:17, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

I have removed it. Such assertions really ought to be verifiable through reliable references to avoid the appearance of original research. I must also add that I would disagree with the deletion of this article (though not with several others mentioned above). Holy Trinity is the oldest church in Adelaide and has played a significant role in several events throughout its history, including the foundation of St Peter's College – it is notable.--cj | talk 13:25, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Holy Trinity is also notable (within Adelaide, at least) for its connections to the students at the University of Adelaide (possibly other unis too) - the closer churches such as Scots Church appear to ignore the huge mission field on their doorstep. Not sure how to support that, but it's significant to me. The recent "criticism" section was false, too. I known it is 2019 and 12 years since the previous comment, but I think the following should be said about its notability. I just added a section re 'Heritage listings' which discusses the church building's inclusion on two heritage recognition schemes on the basis of its built form and its historical relevance. Therefore, I would think it is reasonable to consider the church to be "notable". Regards Cowdy001 (talk) 01:19, 23 August 2019 (UTC)

New Version

I've rehashed the article, including references to what I believe is the only book on the history of Trinity - that by Brian Dickey. I fully acknowledge that this may be considered a biased account (as it was published by the church), however Dr Dickey is a reputable historian (retired) from Flinders University. I have tried to keep what is good from the earlier article. I have attempted to keep an appropriate tone for the article, however (as I attend the church) I would like it if some others could check over the article to ensure NPOV. Geoff Lin/EU/ES Controversy

I am unsure why Holy Trinity can be counted as "notable" simply because it is related to the University of Adelaide.

All of the ES workers are from Holy Trinity Church, but that is the causation of the controversial criticism against EU. Geoff Lin is also a centerpiece to that debate. -192.43.227.18 (talk) 22:01, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
