How do you pronounce "Marui"?

  • "Mah roo ee". Kappa 13:04, 25 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
  • I've heard "MAH-roo-EYE" used as well. Kappa's is the more common. - Lucky 6.9 05:52, 30 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
  • I say it either "mah-roo-ee" or "mah-roo-eye" --Matthewcl375 08:11, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
  • Maybe we can add a universal standard pronounciation key thingies for its pronounciation?74.12.72.15 08:33, 5 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
  • It is almost certainly pronounced Muh-roo-ee, as far as my knowledge of Japanese goes.--75.85.103.130 (talk) 02:32, 28 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Low budget? edit

VSR-10 is not for players with low budget!

Comparing it with other models, the VSR-10 is much cheaper than other Japanese released sniper models. At least 1/3 the price. And not more expensive than most of the other TM AEG. MythSearchertalk 06:25, 7 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
If compared to many branded Japanese Airsoft gun makers like Maruzen and Tanaka, the VSR series of sniper rifles are definately "budget", but if compared to the Chinese clones like Well, etc. , they are more expensive. It just depends on how you look at it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.133.83.6 (talk) 14:50, 25 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

They tend to... edit

>but when upgraded, they break easier than higher-end AEG companies such as Classic Army, ICS, G&G, etc...

Any evidence?
Adding that line without any evidence or reference would only make it appears like a negative campaign.

Unless someone does a notable durability test, it won't be able to verify... anyone up to sacrifice a "few" bucks? --Koheiman 04:54, 7 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
This is wrong, not because of the do not break easier, but the other companies are no higher-end AEG companies. CA, ICS and G&G's are all same class, if not worse companies(at least they are smaller companies). And for the durability part, it is kinda true if you only consider the casing, most of the higher end models by these companies are metal, yet TM models are made of plastic. And it is common sense that metal is stronger than plastic. MythSearchertalk 06:25, 7 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Type 89 edit

>The mechanical burst of Type-89 is the second attempt at a burst fire AEG. It is managed by purely mechanical means as opposed to first electrical-burst method, limiting it to three-round burst only but supposedly much more reliable.<

The Type 89 is not limited to 3 round burst. It can fire in semi-automatic, full automatic, and 3 round burst, although the mechanism makes the trigger pull a little stiff.

Also, the burst function is very relaible, and its metal body is very solid and creak free. How do I know this? I own one. The JGSDF is actually using these for CQB training, although their's is slightly modified (how, I don't know), and was delivered in '03, 3 years before the worldwide release.

Also, Kappa's pronunciation is correct according to Japanese pronunciation.

Tokyo Marui is soon to release a SOC16 as well.

It's great that you own one, but obviously you have not read the whole sentence did you.
That line simply meant for Type-89 can NOT perform 2-7 variable rounds burst as opposed to SIG550/551, nobody's saying Type-89 can't perform semi/full.
Your edit appeared as if you're trying to say Type-89 AEG is equipped with variable round burst function - which is, as you indeed know, wrong.
Oh and just so you know, first patch of JSDF issue Type-89 AEG (slightly different in color, but that's pretty much it) was delivered in '06 Feb, only 5 monthes earlier than public release as opposed to '03 you suggest.
I wonder where you pulled out that '03 theory.

>> '03 is correct, actually. According the the Japanese ARMS magazine, the Marui Type 89 WAS issued in 2003, and has pictures of actually Jieitai members using it. (74.226.120.232 21:37, 27 May 2007 (UTC))Reply

The way you word it ("limited to three round burst only") implies it is not capable of semi automatic and full automatic firemodes. I was saying that it is select fire. I said nothing of "variable burst function". And it's just the JGSDF batch. Not all branches of the JSDF use the Marui for training, only the JGSDF use it. I can't remember where I heard about the '03 release date.

>AEGs are uniquely suited for their accuracy compared to a real gun as well as significantly low costs.<

Uhh, no. The accuracy of a real rifle will beat an airsoft gun any day. The reason the airsoft guns are used is because a)highly populated areas, and lack of secluded areas, means you'll disturb the neighbors when using blanks, and b) their ammunition isn't as abundant--if you watch live/blank-fire exercises, you'll notice that most of the time, a shell catcher is fitted to the rifle.

Neutrality dispute edit

This article is slightly biased-it states that they are "the undisputed best" and "Most reliable out-of-the-box." That could be false. Many players believe Classic Army is more reliable and accurate than TM Guns. A POV tag is added (3/28/07)

>>Actually, it's pretty much proven that TM is more reliable out of the box than CA. Point in case: I own 4 Marui's, all of which perform flawlessly. Of all the Classic Army owners in the area, they all had to replace the hopup bucking, and in many cases completely redo the wiring.

I trust a company that actually QC's it's products before releasing them, instead of releasing 8 versions of the same rifle before finally getting it right, then still having QC issues. With CA you can get lemons. With TM, your chances of getting a lemon are astronomically tiny.

That's only anecdotal evidence at best .... That doesn't count as proof. Unless you can cite various manufacturing tests and comprehensive studies proving or disproving the reliability of TM's hardware then you have no evidence to back up such a claim. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.156.180.77 (talk) 21:21, 21 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Addressing Type 89 Reliability edit

After exclusively using the burst mode on my Type 89 for the past ten months, I'm am starting to have an issue. The trigger mechanism locks in the up position. I have yet to open the mechbox and address the situation. The good news is that the trigger lockup only effects the burst function, while semi-automatic and full-automatic still function flawlessly (true to real steel, actually). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.18.194.47 (talk) 02:36, 30 March 2007 (UTC).Reply

Announced releases? edit

Reading the "announced releases" section, I've noticed that alot of them have not actually been announced. I smell a load of bullshit.

Tracer Systems edit

What about mentioning the mock silencers that actually flash charge glow in the dark BB's? I know that they have been taken of the market for now, but I heard of a second generation being released recently.

Versions of BASR's edit

There is a VSR 10 Prohunter version available. I added it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.188.25.171 (talk) 02:54, 30 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
