Origin of name edit

On the refdesk someone says Tipton means "top of the hill" but the article has no mention. Julia Rossi (talk) 02:04, 28 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

BNP support edit

To the extent that local support for the BNP is pertinent, should it not be in a separate "local politics" section rather than in the introduction? And since racial issues seem to feature so heavily, a demographics section would be useful.

The following sentence

Tividale has a relatively high percentage of ethnic minority residents, mostly Muslims of Pakistani origin, but the Princes End and Great Bridge areas are predominantly occupied by white British residents, which has made the BNP's popularity all the more unusual.

does not make sense. It reads to imply that the BNP's popularity in the two White districts is surprising. Surely the reverse would be true, ie that BNP support is to be expected in White areas which are bordered by non-White areas which are perceived as a threat. --Edwin Greenwood (talk) 11:29, 16 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Merge proposal: St Paul's Church of England Primary School edit

Per WP:SCHOOL, primary schools are rarely notable, and this is pretty much a stub. Hence propose moving here into "Schools" section. Rodhullandemu 23:25, 3 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

The Lost City. edit

As a former foot beat Police Officer in Tipton I can assure you that the origin of the name "The Lost City" actually comes from the name of a long demolished public house.213.205.252.134 (talk) 20:19, 17 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Frances Macdonald (section Notable people) edit

I dispute the statement Frances Macdonald was like her sister Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh born in Tipton. Frances' wikipedia article puts her birthplace in Kidsgrove in the north of Staffordshire and makes no reference to Tipton, while Margaret is stated to be born in Tipton.Cloptonson (talk) 20:12, 24 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
