On his copyright law proposal, and its amendment
editOn his handling of the copyright law, saying little more than "albeit in modified form" is a wildly oversimplifying representation of the relevant legislative history. Thomas Babington Macaulay had made a compelling case (a historic speech – now lamentably seldom remembered, as publishers (and their obedient servants in legislatures) have steam-rolled over his eminently sound reasoning), which persuaded parliament at the time to push back until Talfourd came up with a better proposed law (which parliament – including MacAulay – did indeed accept). — Eddy (publisher of a linked page, though MacAulay is the author of most of its content) 84.212.130.171 (talk) 22:35, 8 July 2018 (UTC)
