I edited this part "Thomas Goodwin (October 5, 1600 - February 23, 1680) was an puritan priest who served as chaplain to Oliver Cromwell." to correctly Thomas Goodwin (October 5, 1600 - February 23, 1680) was a puritan preacher who served as chaplain to Oliver Cromwell.
I never heard of puritans called as priests, as far as I know they will abhor that title.

In some biographies of Goodwin I have read that he died not in 1680 but in 1679 (february 23). which is correct? Watch-WikiTalk—Preceding undated comment added 14:54, 8 August 2010 (UTC).Reply
They are both correct! In old style dating the new year started on 25 March, so Goodwin died in 1680 new style and 1679 old style. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.185.175.30 (talk) 18:12, 15 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
